I don't remember another blog from Pach where he said someone is coming to Buffalo. Even in this blog he pretty much just laid solid reasoning as to why he thinks Buffalo might be the landing spot of Vesey, and said it was a very real possibility that Vesey might not come to Buffalo. Go suck a fart |

Yep, 3rd choice behind Toronto, I'm sure...because Daddy is a scout for the Leafs...a NORTH EAST US scout... |

Kind of funny how this kid is demanding top 6 ice time instead of earning it . Hope for his sake he produces where ever he goes or things may turn ugly.
Flip side is why would a team guarentee an unknown a top 6 role ? |

Same here, very lucky to spend it with my family and to live in this great country. This will be the first 4th of July for my boy, I wonder how he will react to the fireworks. |

I can imagine any team would guarantee Vesey anything - on ice - long term. But the Sabres can guarantee him a spot in the Top 6 on opening night with a bonafide opportunity to keep the job, and an environment that will give him every opportunity to succeed individually and team-wide before his ELC expires.
That's all any rookie can seriously ask for, and it should be enough to draw him to Buffalo. |

That's a nice Pixar-esque "You've got a friend in me" portrait you painted there... But I think you should be looking more at the Boston based Aerosmith tune of "Dream On." |

I don't know about this kid fellas - to me he kinda has scumbag written all over him.
First he passed down a guarantee to play top 6 minutes with Forsberg, Neal, Johansen. And now Buff go out of their way to get his rights and throw away a draft pick to show how bad they want him and he still isn't satisfied?
Personally, I think the Sabres are a better fit with more upside for the future but he still wants to explore what else is out there??? The balls on this kid.....he hasn't proven SH&T at the NHL level!!! Now I know he has the right to take this route but it just feels like his burning bridges out of the gate.
Just because he's a Hobey baker winner doesn't mean that success is gonna translate to the pro level. Check out the last 10 winners and see where they ended up. |

I read the entire blog.
I read what you quote his father saying about Boston possibly not being a fit (pressure).
I still think he signs in Boston because of his family.
The more I hear about him, the more it sounds like he is a Momma's boy and should be playing badminton in place of hockey.
At this point, I can take him or leave him.

Welcome aboard.
He has very high end potential in a position where we have big needs, we can acquire him for a 3D round pick, and he's cost controlled on an ELC.
That's a great combination for us. I want him. |

Thank you, thank you... I mean nobody knows where he's going, and we can all hope that he comes to our teams, but I just think it's foolish to be selling your fan base on the fact that your team IS GETTING HIM because they've got a player who was a friend of his when he was younger.
He's got connections all over the place, and any one of Boston, Buffalo, or Toronto (and probably a bunch of other teams) can offer him a guaranteed top 6 spot. So to say that Buffalo has a 65% chance... better than any other team simply because a GM threw away a 3rd round pick on him, and he's got a friend who plays there is just a bit too homer-ish.
There's nothing in this article that brings any new facts to the table, It's all things that we already know, and it's just force fitting those facts to favor his home team.
Dad in Toronto = Tampering + Mom in Boston + Top 6 Role in Boston = 75% chance Vesey signs in Boston! Woo Boston are the favorites now! |

He hasn't done anything wrong... everything he has done is completely within the rules of the CBA... so how is someone who plays by the rules a scumbag? That's just an ignorant thing to say.
OMG HE IS CHOOSING WHERE HE WANTS TO PLAY?!? THE BALLS ON THIS KID OMG.
If you don't think any of the draftees would like to choose where they play, then you are foolish. It just doesn't work out that way for 99% of them. With Vesey being drafted, and then playing out the rest of his career in the NCAA, it just happened to work out for him that THE RULES SAY he can become a free agent after a certain date, and sign with any team. If you think someone is a scumbag for that, then you have awfully low standards for what it takes to be a scumbag. |

the sabres have just as much to offer, if not more, than any other team in the running...am of the opinion that having a friend like Eichel, who's one of the most promising forwards in the game, is a big factor...the hypothesis is: if he wants to strike out on his own--start charting his own life--he won't be able to do it in boston or Toronto as family's too close...having a friend in the city where he can start living on his own certainly helps the sabres cause...especially when it's eichel.

The move by the Sabres to trade for his negotiating rights was a good one I think. Just not sure I would view him as some autmoatic top 3-6 forward that you plug in for a decade and he scores 20-30 every year...tougher with college players usually. That said he sure looks the part.
Will be hard for him to resist going to Boston. |
