Don't quote me on this, but I believe they are a bunch of fck tards whose tongues are nothing more than a clothes line for Shannahan's old jock straps. Etcetera. Etcetera.

I turned to TSN tonight to check out the baseball highlights and they had a full blown story on Mathews donning the Leafs jersey for the first practise and what number he'll wear....Jesus.

No wonder no one wants to play there and they've never made it into the fourth round. But I'm glad they thought the rest of Canada should be aware of this great fortune they've found

what do you want them to do?? whats your idea of a Vancouver rebuild? how are they supposed to do it differently?

theres the Edmonton way which clearly didn't work - The Toronto way which is a work in progress - the Columbus way, who in the last ten years have had 6 top 10 picks and haven't won sh&T. The Jets have had great luck drafting, they're no further ahead, despite adding serviceable players around the youth. Chicago who got Toews and kane BUT also got insanely lucky with high drafts picks becoming stars - who could've predicted that?

the truth is, every team that wins the cup has a completely unique way of winning and the same model obviously doesn't work for any two teams, its a different recipe each year. Most importantly, no one can predict how that championship team is gonna win.

No one expected Pitts to win this year, inexperienced goalie, a Defence led by Letang and a slew of cast offs. BUT They just pieced together a few decent lines with speed first and it worked. The recipe for success changes year to year, team to team.

That's pretty standard practice for the Toronto sports network for any non-Toronto teams....

Does anyone else notice that the talking heads at TSN (and around hockey in general) give no credence to the idea that team and player performances aren't static? Case in point, Scott Cullen says Eriksson isn't a good idea in Vancouver because the Canucks aren't good, so why sign a good player?

http://www.tsn.ca/statist...fit-in-vancouver-1.519309

It's like the fact that they are not trying to just get run over for a bunch of years is apparently beyond consideration.

And then in this clip, they say signing Eriksson is a sign that Benning doesn't know what he's doing. I find it very fatalistic of them to assume teams are just going to fail year after year.

Wasn't that hilarious. They gave him 63, will that be his number???
I wonder if the media in Toronto know how dumb they look and just play it up because the fans are morons. Or perhaps they are just as dumb as the fans...

Is there a quota of posts bltching about the media that we are forced to meet? I'm not piling on, because I do it too, but why do we take it so personally and is there a less useful thing to bltch about? I swear, when it comes to the media, particularly Eastern based media, we are all a bunch of Kaptaans.

Someone has an opinion. We don't agree with it. And that's fine because we are also entitled to our opinions. But that doesn't invalidate theirs, or even make them wrong, because it's July and no one is playing hockey for awhile and all there is are opinions. It's what they are paid to do.

Time to get a head start for Crazy Tuesday.

If this Barrie thing is real in any light for a potential trade, what is the max you would give up? I know some think it's Sbisa but I highly doubt that is a realistic scenario. However, Tanev is probably the pivotal centerpiece if any deal were to be made. Now I don't believe this is even close to possible and I would prefer we got a top 6 winger but I like to discuss what the current media craze is going on about. Would anyone consider Tanev+ for Barrie? The plus is where I won't speculate and just ask everyone instead.

IF that was the starting point, what would you add to it that is fair and you are willing to give up?

Let the craziness begin! I'll catch up in the morning.

Personally I feel that was an overpayment and a 1st rounder shouldnt be involved but in the spirit of Tuesday it's probably me overvaluing Tanev....

I'll say Tanev, Pedan, 2nd round picks for 2017 and 2018. Conditional pick in 2017 that turns into a first if we make the playoffs.

Sbisa, Hansen and CLB 2nd rounder for Kane.

Dank-Hank-Eriksson
Kane-Sutter-Virtanen
Baertschi-Horvat-Etem
Burrows-Granlund-Dorsett

Gaunce replaces Burrows next year. Boeser and Demko potentially make the club next year.

Edler-Barrie
Hutton-Gudbranson
Tryamkin-Larsen
Biega

Less worried about having Tryamkin and Larsen paired together when we have 2 pairs ahead of them that could potentially eat more of the minutes if they falter.

Barrie resigns for 7x7.

Markstrom and Miller split the season.

Then we run into potential cap issues

It satisfies the 2 needs of the team (top 6 winger with grit and top 2 Dman that can score), but i don't think we have the pieces to get it done, plus it does not address the glaring need for an assistant coach that meets Dragon's exacting standards.

It simply was time for a change. The D core won 3 playoff games in 5 years. It needed to get younger bigger tougher faster and more skilled. Hamhuis didn't help any of those causes
