not 100% sure, but I think he's under contract for two seasons overseas - Michael Pachla
Aplund can play here this or next year if he makes the team |

Neither one of those teams would be able to afford to keep him though.
So his next pay day would be with a different team he wouldn't be able to hand pick like he is now. - Stripes77
Still wouldn't stop that payday though. Realistically would have a great shot at a cup, and to put up the highest point totals with those two teams. |

They have a transfer rule though.
Risto came over when he was still under contract. - Stripes77
cool...like someone said, he still needs to fill out his frame a bit more |

Fowler's game took a hit when he was paired with Bieksa... - Stripes77
Forget the article but I read somewhere that Bieksa played better when seperated from Fowler. But Bieksa aside, Fowler is not the answer, and not the guy to overpay for. |

He looks shorter than the 5'11'' he's listed at. |

If judging by the same stats, neither is Kulikov. Both are very meh to below average possession players and Fowler at least scores - sbroads24
Difference is one is going to cost a 1st. |

Who is the answer and how are we going to get him.
Its so easy to say, meh this guy is not the guy we need.

But he wouldn't be able to control the team that's potentially with, which is something he can do now |

He will not be physically ready for the NHL for at least another 2 years. He doesn't have the speed to outweigh his size. He is very similar to Reinhart and he went number 2 and still had a lot of work to do before he broke into the show. |

No he has not. He has said he wants back and wants to play in ARZ but they have not officially signed him yet.
It is just an idea. |

how is that different than with any other team?
He didn't choose to buffalo, he was traded here.
Something, buffalo, Boston, Chicago, NYR, Pitt, Etc all have the option of doing after two years |

Like I said earlier, you wait until the right guy becomes available. You don't just blow your bounty on the first option that comes along. |

Yeah I am all for making moves to make the team better long term. What I don't want is to make moves just to get into the playoffs kind thing. You know what Darcy did! - Stripes77
Yeah, I'm with ya
I misunderstood your first post
My bad
I'm hoping we sign Vesey
And then Murray can make a trade for another forward and another defenseman
Trades might have to wait till the deadline or next offseason though |

Because of those teams that he can choose from he knows that Buffalo, Boston and Toronto will have the cap space to keep him.
Chicago, Pittsburgh, and the Rangers have like no cap space so after his ELC is up he will be living elsewhere.
It's about playing the odds and making an educated guess.
He doesn't have to sign with Buffalo. If he does he knows that team will control his RFA rights. |

As much as I like Ausphlund's desire... I think Guhle and Nylander are going to be the hardest to send down to Rochester after camp this year.
Nelson is not guaranteed a spot here either and could be sent down.
Fasching and Bailey are borderline as well. I would bet Fasching is far more likely to be sent down but Bailey could fill in nicely on the 3rd line if we do deal Ennis and Foligno. |

I disagree. I think he's all ready playing in a mans league right now. I don't know much about the Swedish elite league but from what I've heard it's better competition than the AHL. I think if in a years time he puts on the needed strength he'll be ready. Whether that means in Rochester or Buffalo would remain to be seen. Like you said he may be similar to Reinhart. 85% of this board thought Reinhart wouldn't be ready for the NHL last year and he proved people on here wrong. Asplund could do the same in 2017-2018. I bet he's in Rochester next year |

Eichel is better than Hornquist. Hossa is on the decline. Eichel is better. Eichel also is a better point producer than Towes. Is he a better player? No not currently but Towes isn't exactly Mr. fantasy. Crosby yeah he could end up there or play on the other side of Kane in Chicago - bluengold12
Okay, but Crosby is better than eichel. And toews and hossa edge out eichel and reinhart. |

No way. Hossa doesn't edge out Eichel at all. Eichel is a better player right now. And you completely missed the point about Toews. |

Anybody that I say at this point would be pure speculation, so listing off guys would be useless. I could tell you a bunch of guys I would want, but that doesn't mean they are available. Nobody thought Hall was going to be available a year ago, things change. I can't tell the future, but I can tell you I'm going to make a sandwich, be back later. |

If Vesey does turnout to be a little b1tch about this and go somewhere else...
I'll take about 5M in cap space... give it to Shane Doan for a 1 year deal.
Let him slot in on our 2nd line LW for 1 year until Nylander is ready next year perhaps. Doan at age 39 still put up 28 goals last year.
Something about Doan and Iginla. I just love their agelessness and production even at high age. - JVince11
We wont have 5 million in space after we finish up with our RFAs. Plus the last thing we need is an aging, slow doan in our top 6. |

Unfortunately it looks like it will be in Sweden not Rochester. But apparently the competition is better there anyway |

The elite league in sweden is very good competition for youngsters, the league is filled with older players and a bunch of NHL vets. I am a huge fan of the AHL as an option and think Rochester desperatly needs to improve. I just dont see a spot on our NHL roster for Asplund until hes pretty much completely matured or if there are injuries |
