It has to be the biggest x-factor this year. If Lehner goes down or only plays okay or worse we'll probably finish where we did this year. Even if Jack and Sam don't take a step forward (which I think they will) it's less likely they'll take a big step back. The top 6 is a bit more solidified regardless of any college kid and I don't think the defense got worse. It all comes down to Lehner and/or goalie B.

Im fine with waiting and seeing. I definitely feel like lehner is a crazy-eyed competitor. But after him, i dont really know anything about our goalie depth.

Totally revamped top 6 this year.

Goalies can steal you a game here and there and can cost you a game here and there but generally speaking if you are giving up 5 goals a game it is not your goalies fault.

Yup. I like Lehner a lot, I really do. I think most here would agree that last year he looked great in a few of the games he was in and didn't look bad in the others. I only remember one or two games where I really thought he was off. Apparently that was with him still not fully healed(?) so we'll see. Thing is, he goes down or if that was just a goalie getting hot and it could be bad. Ullmark isn't ready, Nielsen (likely) isn't the answer, so what's plan B?

An extra 20-25 goals, perhaps. But Okposo =/= a totally revamped top 6. We're still relying on Foligno-Larsson-Gionta for scoring and hoping that Moulson and Ennis can contribute. We'll be better offensively but I don't know if it's enough to compare us to Dallas.

If McCabe doesn't take a step back (which is possible) and Bogosian can play like he did in the 2nd half you have a decent top 4. Not a great one or even a pretty good one really but a decent one. I look at it as we're taking the guy who was playing at times on our top 2 (Gorges) and likely having him be on our bottom 2 now. So that works for me.

Whole team stunk too. Okposo had more goals in the shootout than the Sabres did. Free points you leave on the table, but both sides need to be better.

It's not considering they have 2 guys as good as Eichel will be, and a 2nd line center (Spezza) who's a better scorer than O'Reilly
