Waste Of Time - SABRES 89
Yup. But its entertaining at least.
My guess is when he meets if there is no deal to come of it and Vesey makes it known he is going to wait until August 15th nobody will find out about the meeting until Murray has another press conference.
I still think the kid waits until August 15th and if he doesn't sign with the Bruins on that day he signs with a team around the 20th.
I still want him in Buffalo. The homer in me thinks it is the best fit.
The non homer in me thinks its a good fit but that Nashville would have been better. |

My guess is he goes to a contender like chicago, pitt ect. any team can afford him. Just thinking why would he sign here when he can win a cup next season.. |

Because those teams don't have spots up for grabs in their top 6.
He wants to play top 6 minutes, basically to play with good players to get good stats to get his next pay day.
If he does have a slow start those teams will shuffle him down the lineup in a blink of an eye because they are expected to contend.
Teams like Buffalo, Philly, and to a lesser extent Boston have room for him and good players for him to play with. |

I kind of agreed with this until another point was made. If he goes to Chicago he would almost certainly be traded before the end of his ELC (only 2 years) and then he wouldn't have any say in where he goes as I was told no NMCs/NTCs in ELCs.
Pittsburgh is a bit better situation, but still not by all that much. Does he want to sign somewhere he is almost assuredly going to be pushed out of. With the hawks they'd have to let Panarin walk to keep him...not going to happen. |

If contending was an issue, why not join Nashville in the middle of a playoff run? |

Some do. He can go to anaheim and play with perry and getz. Im sure if I gave it more thought i can find other teams too that have room for him in the top six. |

I think the defense got better but not by much.
There is still work to do there. Fowler would be good Shattenkirk would be amazing.
Goalies can steal you a game here and there and can cost you a game here and there but generally speaking if you are giving up 5 goals a game it is not your goalies fault. - Stripes77
I am a bit surprised Shattenkirk was a negative +/- this year.

It's Buffalo or Boston. That's it IMO. Either play with Eichel, or go home. |

It's not considering they have 2 guys as good as Eichel will be, and a 2nd line center (Spezza) who's a better scorer than O'Reilly - sbroads24
I dont think you understand just how good Jack Eichel really is at hockey |

No, I'm very aware. Seguin and Benn are two of the top 5-10 scorers in the game. |

And get traded at the end of his ELC with no choice in where he ends up. I doubt it |

Pretty much.
I also wouldn't take the Hayes situation as something that is going to be a deciding factor either.
However what his dad said during the Hobey Baker awards was a little interesting.
I am trying to not wear the homer hat but I really don't see a better fit than Buffalo.
A young up and coming team with some really good players, a spot in their top 6, a position of need (LW), a coach he is familiar with who played with his dad growing up, a franchise center that he knows pretty well, an owner with deep pockets committed to building a winner, a place that doesn't have tremendous pressure, and a team that is ready to win but is not expected to win either that can deal with whatever growing pains he might have... |

It pretty much is though if you look at their roster and cap space.
If Vesey performs how he wants to, Chicago won't be able to afford him |

I love your enthusiasm but there is a player that was drafted before him that might have a thing or two to say about that...

Even if that were to be true....we don't have another one close to him to compare us to Dallas's firepower. It's a moot point |

Im right there with you. As a Sabre fan I try to check my bias as much as I can but I dont see any other team in the northeast with an open spot in their top 6 with his best friend who happens to be a franchise player. Sure he can go to Toronto but they're gunna be terrible next year and actually have a lot of young players in their system. Buffalo just seems like the perfect fit. |
