I'm a true fan and I go to games once in a while. Vancouver fans stink, we have awful fans. Toronto has suits in the lower bowl, but regular folk up top.

To say the Asians are ruining the atmosphere is pretty funny and ignorant. Our fan base in the 90s didn't show up to games, so blaming it on the real estate market is a pretty far fetched theory. We don't have good fans when we lose, it's not rocket science.

Perhaps, but I don't think it's an argument that relies on Asians ruining any atmosphere. I think he meant more towards the fact that our economy can't sustain itself without their money. And he isnt wrong to say they may be less interested in hockey because its less popular where they come from.

It's more ignorant to be blinded by the state of the economy and just how many things become affected by that. Less and less disposable income these days.

Enough talk about this though. It's becoming a less hockey oriented conversation and at the end of the day things are just too expensive and you're right, our team is at a low point. Hard to try and sell tickets that expensive while we are losing.

When the team is successful going to a Canucks game becomes a status symbol. You get all kinds of non-hockey people there, which is annoying to the every day fan.

I remember being at the finals explaining rules to the person beside me. A co-worker of mine's boyfriend bought her a ticket to game 7 for 5K, and it was the third game she'd watched all year (live or on tv).

As a diehard fan the absolute best time to go to games is now when the team isn't successful. Hell, a few of you guys could probably band together and get a pair of season's tickets and divvy them up. Watch a bunch of hockey now, then in a few years you could make some money off of them.

I don't think the guy was blaming Asians per se, just saying they aren't hardcore fans.but then again, i don't get the feeling the guy knows a lot of "Asians".

instead of saying hardcore fans, he should have the gonads to say, white people are leaving vancity since its majority "Asian" now... and white people can't afford to go to the games as much.

you should come to Toronto, where not only do the fans stink, but they are rude and arrogant as well... and that applies to everyone, not just immigrants from one continent.

I am one of the few who think Canucks will be in the top 16. So I don't hate losing the first. It would cost also someone who hold high value
- VANTEL

Very possible if healthy. I have them pegged for 14-20 overall. If we get nailed by injuries in Jan-Feb (which we usually do) I can see us missing the WC by a few points. But if healthy and Goaltending holds on we should get a look at the WC spot.

More on the 20ish side for me. I think WD will continue to get out coached by divisional rivals.

lol...very possible but I do think WD has been adapting ok. It will help to have a new expierienced assistant here. This is year 3 for WD so it's adapt or die. No playoffs will probably mean a coaching change if Aqua-Feenies get their way.

We got rid of Bartowski Higgins Prust Cracknel Vrbata and Weber who were useless.

Hamhuis Vey were not productive and now gone.

Our two top centres had injuries most of the year.

We have brought in scoring and toughness.

We missed being in the middle of the pack by 8 more regulation wins.

I know its a team game, but replacing him with Gudbranson in the lineup is a huuuuge difference maker for me (yes it isnt a direct swap but Hamhuis was out a chunk of the year). Bart played way too many minutes regardless of who was healthy and was overmatched. Having a guy that can play those minutes with composure will help solidify the top 2 pairings and have a bigger impact on next season than the rest of those items IMO

I'm from Toronto originally and lived there again a few years ago.
They are rude and ignorant but they support their team no matter what. We would have 8000 people at games if the Canucks had the same past 15 years as the Leafs.

Nah, I commiserate with habs fans and everyone who would like a second option in the GTA. Just waiting for bell and Rogers to start squabbling eventually and a second franchise to be awarded.

I dont think he has overvalued either.

One is a 24 year old puck moving RHD (which is already enough to score a massive return) scoring at .58 PPG, nearly had his second 50 point season on a pretty bad avalanche team.

The second is a former 2nd overall pick, who is 23 and has 4-20 goal seasons (would have had it in all 5 of his seasons if you pro-rate the lockout shortened one), he's scored at nearly .70 PPG and is a physical hard hitting winger. Not to mention one of the youngest captains in league history.

You may not want to pay the price or like it, but then you wont get either

I'm glad you escaped.

I'm planning a road trip with a friend and family to go watch games in Montreal, buffalo and Ottawa this season. Would go to Detroit but afraid we might be robbed or killed.

I don't want this to turn into a poop show this early in the day. Better for everyone if you just back the (frank) up.
