I'm surprised you didn't have an opinion on the current economy as well. It has become more and more expensive to live and to pay that much to go see a hockey game is ridiculous let alone the overpriced refreshments. Costs continue to rise and anyone who does have the money to go to the game doesn't want to because we aren't any good right now. I think you nailed it with the downward spiral we have been on since 2011. Gillis just completely (frank)ed us when we traded Luongo and Schneider. The new management team was changed too late I think and the business side of things suffered badly. Things aren't complete doom and gloom though but there are so many factors and you covered them well.

It's a downturn in business. That's all. All businesses go through downturns. It's not unique to the canucks. In no way does it signal disaster. Smart business people plan for such events.
Vancouver is becoming an international city. We have to stop thinking of Vancouver as a west coast canadian city. The cost of living is in line with other similar cities. It's just out of whack for canadian cities other than toronto.
The cost of a canuck game is not that bad. It's not even the most expensive in the NHL. I had season tickets (two seats) for about 14 years and the price per seat went from roughly $39 to $49 per seat during that time. That's for the best hockey in the world. You won't find any better.
In comparison, I paid $30 to go see a MLS game. WTF? Way too much for a middling product. The MLS might not even be in the top 50 soccer leagues in the world. What am I paying for?
What's the average price for a seat at a BPL match? NFL? NBA?
Vancouverites still have a small town canadian mentality. This ain't Kansas anymore Dorothy. We have to stop thinking like a poor people.
