If they added a feature for "season pass holders", or w/e it is called on this site, to allow you to block posts from certain people. I think I would subscribe.

If all that is true then he is good trade material. We can get a solid young player back plus a 2nd or 3rd rounder back.
- kaptaan

Why would we trade a solid young player for another solid young player? The only Tanev trade I would entertain is Tanev for Trouba. But WPG doesn't need to do that.

Tanev had no physical presence or component to his game. He can't get a puck through to the net from the point. He is reliably average.
- kaptaan

this can certainly describe dan hamhuis as well. there wasn't even a threat of him getting a puck through.

Hopefully they get Markstrom signed and let him take over this year or as the New Year approaches. Trade Miller at the deadline for ANYTHING Jim

Next summer sign a middling goaltender for two years and expose him.

- LeftCoaster

we won't get anything for miller. it'll be exact same situation as vrbata hamhuis. we'd have to eat salary to the point wouldn't be worth the 4th rounder or whatever.

on another note, i'm interested to see how the changes in goalie gear change things up. could be alot of guys out of work having difficulty adjusting. while markstrom is athletic, have to admit he did look like a michelin man circa garth snow last couple years out there.

I disagree with that. Hamhuis was actually not too bad at getting pucks to the net. The real culprit, however, is Edler. For whatever reason, he constantly gets his shots blocked. I'm not sure if it's an intuitive thing or whether it's positioning or something else, but it sure as hell is frustrating to watch, especially on the power play.

How about letting Stecher play one AHL period before we declare him ready for a top 4 position. Then we can start the Stecher for Landeskog chant.

Linden is on 1040 right now. They were discussing Hamhuis and why them let him walk, Linden cited the young Defense Core that they have virtually naming everybody except Sbisa. Hopefully that gives some sort of indication that Sbisa won't be around come October

Still want to trade Tanev for Yakupov?
- CanuckDon

If Larsson got Hall, I aim a little higher than Yakupov with Tanev now...

How is that best case scenario? You don't think the young players will improve at all? They peaked at age 20? You feel confident the season will be ruined by injuries? wtf is going on? Tuesday?
- CanuckDon

What? No.

But you mentioned all of them having better years. All rookies don't just project up every year. They do have ups and downs, season to season.

I think it's reasonable to expect injuries to play a part in projecting how the rosters going to do. Don't you factor that in? Considering the history? A lot of man games lost last season. And the season before. It's known the canucks have a tough schedule.

I don't think I said anything outlandish.

I guarantee they are trying to move Sbisa...the question is, what's the market?

Two young players are too much of a question mark. Hall was an established top NHL winger so I am looking at maybe settling for Ovechkin and a 2nd, though ideally I am thinking of Ovechkin and a few players/prospects

I hope Virt and Etem can score more than 7 goals! Sure, they won't all improve but collectively it's very reasonable to assume our younger players will improve overall. Injuries will happen every year and when they do, Gaunce, Burrows, Grenier will chip in a few goals. I wouldn't forecast my goal projections based on future injuries as its a variable beyond our control.

Now if you want to discuss depth in Utica then that is a valid concern. Are we better equipped to deal with injuries at this point compared to last year? Perhaps marginally...it's still only July

Don't forget that need to retain 3 mil of Ovi's salary in the deal.

haha it's funny how we now have a glut of dmen ... apparently. before the end of the season popular belief was that we had no one. a trade a draft and a college signing later, trade dman now!!!

Don't take anything kaptaan says seriously around here. He thinks Taj is a great hockey mind. Though Sbisa is expendable.

It has to do with their release time. Elder takes a long delayed wind up which generates a hard shot but to no ones surprise it gets blocked. Players like Hutton and Juolevi have a much quicker release and as a result will likely generate more offense in the future. Hamhuis falls somewhere in between

Just throwing this out there... Does anyone think that Virt might end up in the AHL for a time this season?
