I don't like that vesey has his dad so involved with his professional career. It's like hodgson all over. If he goes to Toronto instead of his hometown or buffalo it will be clear. His dad might just screw him over on his next contract. Imo he would produce a lot more playing with eichel since the chemistry is already there. - Carubba-Kaleta
I am still not even sure what the Vesey hype is to be honest. |

I think this is the longest that we've gone with nothing immediate to look forward to (tank/draft/trades/etc). Hence the awful conversation.

Is this to much to expect
Okposo 25G 35A - 60 Pts (61 pts avg last 3 years)
Eichel 25G 45A - 70 pts (56 pts last year)
Reinhart - 25G 30A - 55 Pts (42 pts last year)
O'Reilly - 20G 50A - 70 Pts (60 pts last year)
Kane - 25G 25A - 50 Pts (35 points last year)
Ennis - 20G 20A - 40 Pts (wild card)
Does that get us into the playoffs conversation? - ImThatGuy
I would take the over on Eichel. |

We really need guys like Girgensons, Ennis, Moulson to rebound in a big way |

He's a great 4th line winger. Borderline 3rd line grinder. Not worth a penny more than $1.5M per. $3M talk is crazy. |

next year Gio and McCormick will save us 5.5, and according to general fanager, a buyout of Moulson next year would save us 2.2 mil. There's 7.7 in savings, with Georges and Kane leaving shortly there after. - jcragcrumple
Don't forget Franson comes off next year (3.3 mil ). |

This season they should be on a winning mission. |

So TRUE imo!
The negativity of the posters makes these blogs often unreadable.
Sometimes I seriously doubt they are true Sabres fans. - siket71

I think a lot of people on this board are really underrating Foligno and what he brings to the team - ASU_Sabres14
Maybe l8, but Foligno is very overrated by a lot of people too. If his last name wasn't Foligno he'd be run out of town years ago. VERY weak along the boards, only physical at times, scoring touch is on and off, not a good power forward. I remember specifically watching a shift with Foligno and Grigorenko where Foligno went into the boards on a battle while Grigorenko was waiting for the pass should he win that battle. Foligno was easily outworked and the play went the other way. He's not that good. He's an okay 4th line player.
Edit: Foligno, when on his game, is good. But he's not on his game that often. If he wants to be a scorer then he wont succeed on this team, we have too many people who can score better than he can (career high of 10 goals). If he wants to be a power forward where his job is to win battles and possess the puck who doesn't have stone hands if he touches the puck he can work out here. But he needs to commit to that game. He won't be 2010-14 Lucic. |

the problem with the sabres is we have a bunch of over-hyped misfit toys up front

It seems as if he has a longer leash than the other players. I really thought he'd be gone after the tank for sure. He has never lived up to his rookie season, reminds me of someone else we got rid of. |

I don't think its just his name. I wasnt alive to watch the elder foligno so the last name means nothing to me in that sense. I think it's because of the start he had in this league. For those however many games he looked like a legit top 6 power forward. People got a glimpse of that and thats the standard they measure his performance against from that point forward. |

28 and 82 can have a place on the team if they accept bottom 6 roles and play solid defensively while adding a bit of offense. They can't be the ones counted on for offense late in a game and shouldn't be given offensive starts.
Kane and Ennis I have hope that they can play better than last year. Their career averages dictate that they should.
Moulson just seems to have mailed it in. |

Adding Ennis this year is gonna be a major bonus. Basically like adding a 20 goal scorer in free agency |

Agreed. I think that also hurt his career too. Instead of focusing on the physical play, boards play, and defense that could help him stay in the league he focused on the scoring (I don't know him at all, of course, just an outsider looking in). He's best when he sticks to his game. Same thing I say with Girgensons. They can be useful players, you just have to use them correctly. |

Probably have to include 2017 1st in there...maybe change one of those to Franson or something because I think they need defence. |
