A minor concern I have for the expansion draft is if Gilman is selected as the new GM of Vegas that he will have better insight on the Canuck players/prospects. Though there has been considerable turnover, he was still around for some of JB's time and has good insight on the player's relationship with the team from his days negotiating contracts for Gillis. I would be surprised if he was GM that he takes Sbisa or any other poor contract JB handed out - WhiteLie
Also Rodin could turn out to be a bust so that's a potential 3rd spot - NorthNuck
After next season you will have erikson, sedin, sven, jv, boeser and rodin as your top wingers.. so why not deal hansen at the deadline for assets instead of getting nothing for him then it also frees up a spot to protect someone during expansion(rodin/sutter)

For me its tough to guess because a lot can happen over the year, but at the moment I think the Canucks are a team that wont be an attractive option to poach from and that Vegas's top 6 D will be pillaged from better options elsewhere. I think depending on who's left to expose, they will lose someone like a Granlund, Etem, Gaunce, that will be depth for the new franchise

I think if Rodin turns out to have the upside we are hoping, moving Hansen could be a viable move at the TDL but it would be tough to see him go.

The Canucks are in great shape for the expansion draft...the worst player they will lose is Hansen and that is assuming Granlund and Etem become worth protecting. Either way, we aren't losing anybody that important. Teams over loaded with NMC'c and vets will pay the price.
Wasn't it nice of me to make a comment about TO media this morning and leave you guys to answer the Leaf fans
Sorry - VANTEL
My answer is simple.....
Relocate a team to the centre of the universe.
The huge fan base deserves an option other than a moneymaking failure.
IDC about territorial rights nor think the Sabres would be hurt much at all.
If LA & NY can have 2 teams its a no brainer Southern cannot do great with 3.
Healthy rivalry would be a boon instead of this strange & moronic stance the GTA or southern Ontario only 1 team is based there. Best case scenario for owners is relocate say the Canes or FLA to the west & get a huge expansion fee in the GTA region.
I think teams like ANA, BUF, CGY, DAL, NSH, SJ and a few others have the potential to provide better value defenseman than Sbisa in age/performance/contract (depending on how many they can protect and who they protect obviously)

Oh totally, I like Granlund and Etem so I hope they become worth protecting, but neither them nor any other player eligible to be selected would be franchise altering losses

The Ducks R in a bind yes & I see them forced to trade sooner or later.
The JB reference to cap crunch team also applies to the expansion draft next.
Flames R no better off than us.
Dallas to will deal to not lose significant D assets.
Preds have Poile & I always liked him & see him juggling the roster up in advance.
SJ a budget team idk what they will do.
FLA made their D moves earlier but face a problem at F as do TBL

Obviously trades will make the difference over the course of the year, but hard to say they can make it all work without the risk of acquiring and exposing something equally valuable to Vegas.
CGY has Gio/Brodie/Wideman/Hamilton all better than Sbisa, plus prospects jokipakka and wotherspoon, if I'm building a team, I would take any over Sbisa either for short term performance or the prospect development
Minnesota is another to watch with Suter, Spurgeon, Brodin, Scandella and Dumba all needing protection. Also Islanders have Boychuk, Leddy, Hamonic, de Hann, and Hickey to protect
