If Valk has an AHL contract does that mean if theres injuries we cant call him up? It also blows my mind that some people have Rodin in the top 6, unproven and couldnt make the NHL before, im thinking top 9 at best |

Yes, DimJim has done an excellent job of not having enough good players to worry about losing one in the expansion draft.... |

what isnt clear to me yet is there an order of selection?
Does LV pick from teams at their random selection or is it in any laid out order?
I would think LV would be free to select in any order.
I mean if it were alphabetical that would be to our advantage possibly which would put us 29th. |

Why would the order matter? They are the only one's picking players. They will look at every team's roster of available players and select accordingly. |

I can't see it being a round by round thing. Don't think it matters. There may be an order but it wouldn't make a difference if there were. I'm sure they would know who they were selecting from each team prior anyways.

Yeah they are the only ones picking, they will probably just submit a list of 14F 9D & 3G. |

So I've seen a few wonder about JV starting in Utica. I personally feel he would unless he plays top 6 minutes in the NHL. He would benefit more from a bigger role in Utica than used in a limited role on our bottom 6. I've seen his stats and he is great for the team but in terms of proper development he needs a bigger role.
On top of that, we have Rodin to slot in somewhere. If a trade isn't done to make a spot than we have Rodin that has to clear waivers while Virtanen doesn't. A huge portion of the decision will depend on camp but I feel he needs to be put in more important roles to succeed in the future.
Only reason I see him starting in Utica is to play Rodin on roster instead and have Larsen ride in the pressbox. Can we only have one healthy scratch without sending them down? I should know this but I don't.
That being said:
Dank-Hank-Eriksson
Burrows-Sutter-Virtanen
Baertschi-Horvat-Hansen
Etem-Granlund-Dorsett
Rodin/Gaunce
Something will be decided at camp I'm sure and it will be more clear but until then I see it as more likely JV starts in Utica. |

It will be a long season if Burrows is in the top 6. Also, I'd be shocked if Virt isn't on the team

I take your point about JVs ability to be sent down a play a larger role with UC.
My worry is that the Canucks lineup lacks that size without JV and seems awful soft. I am reluctant to pencil Rodin into the lineup ahead of Gaunce, JV, Burrows until he earns it.
He can ride the pine in the meantime.
