I would chalk it down to maturity issues not commitment issues, he's still a teenager. I don't know many teenagers who've got their collective poop together. This is why having the veterans around helps them tremendously. - LeftCoaster

Yup I would agree with that. Just read an article on the province making a pitch for Horvat to get the A now that Hamhuis is gone. I think it would probably be a good thing considering everybody already wants him to be our next captain, but is it too early? - NorthNuck

Premature for an A yes - Nighthawk
Yes, I'd wait another year at least (since it'll be the last year of the Sedins current contract) and find out the Sedins plans whether they want to retire at the end of the year or sign an extension for another couple of years. That's the time to put the "A" on Horvat, when you know if you need to transition quickly from the Sedins or if you have a few years still for everyone to gain experience/maturity.
Horvat doesn't need the responsibility right now, let him work himself into being a capable 2C by the end of the year with a full year of Sutter to take the pressure off of him and then he should be ready to take the next step, including being part of a new leadership group. |

I dont think its too premature for an A. He has already shown dedication and maturity in his demeanor and play. Letter or not, he is already the leader of the youth, of which there are more coming each season, its a good time to get him used to and embracing it while the Sedin's are around to support him IMO |

Honestly I wouldn't mind seeing Burrows get it, there's also a chance it goes to Edler or Tanev as there is no Dman represented in leadership. |

If it goes to a Dman it will be Gubrannson. |

I think he will get it. He was known for his leadership qualities and they talked about him being a future captain. I think if all that's true it won't take long for the guys to see it. Totally possible. |

The problem with Tanev or Edler is that they are both quiet. That doesn't bother me per se, but you want the letters to be more than token gestures, you want them to mean something. Hamhuis was quiet as well, but every time a new player joined the team you'd hear about Hamhius inviting him to dinner with his family. That's leadership. I can't really see Tanev or Edler doing that. |

Apparently he had one last year with Hamhuis and Daniel, which shows how glued to Canucks games we all were last year
As for the Edler/Tanev, we are not privy to the inner dynamics of the team, they could be excellent leaders and mentors in the room/meetings/road trips so I would be fine with them, except I just dont see them handling the interview portions very well (particularly Edler). Also my personal preference is to not have the majority of your leadership group on the first line/unit, just is weird to me |

My same thoughts, though Tanev was pretty good about spending time with Virtanen and Hutton this past year so I give him the darkhorse shot at an A
I would not be the least bit surprised of Dorsett gets one, or if he gets Burrows' once he moves on |

ROR charges for his Drunk In Donuts Drive Though dropped
Patty ( Cake) Kane charges for sexual assault and beating a taxi driver dropped.
I don't know why Evander ( Mo Money ) Kane should be worried, if you play hockey, in Buffalo you can do anything. |

Anyone saying give Burrows the A , give your head a shake. Two weeks ago we thought he was going to be bought out. He is part of every other trade proposal . He will probably spend most nights in the press box.
Alex we are giving you the A , by the way you are a healthy scratch tonight.

Agreed, I am still hoping he is moved somehow. He is the last member of the old core that can't produce anymore. |

I never once thought he would be bought out. It never made logical sense for management to do that. Also, he is still serviceable as an NHL player, I think he will have a better year this year than last. Hopefully ready to retire at the end of it. |
