2 years ago the flames won a lot of games they shouldn't have because of goaltending ...last year the flames lost a lot of games they shouldn't have because of goaltending ... Treliving didn't give up a lot to upgrade the position so I'm happy with it ...he basically is paying 1/3 for his goaltending compared to Van ...if it blows up in his face lesson learned but if not it's quite a bargain

The Flames have better D no question but Elliott is still yet another backup for you guys and you literally have no 3rd or 4th line scoring. Canucks have way better balance through the four forward lines and much better goaltending. Flames will finish back of EDM and VAN this year but any or all may still mis the PO's.

Flames have better top end players but because Vancouver has better depth and argubably better goaltending they will have a better team? Flames goaltending will be better this year. I Think flames will have a strong team this year. They have 3 dmen better then any on Vancouver.. They're a team on the rise forsure. Though I'm not a huge fan of either team so I hope not

3 D man better? That's a stretch. Solid D for sure but not 3 better than all of ours. Tanev is incredibly underrated for what he does and I personally don't care about your opinions about this.

Elliott isn't a long term answer but he is better than last years tandem and his numbers the past few years are far better than anything you have had in Van city

The thing people keep forgetting is even though the flames have a weak bottom 6 scoring their scoring from the backend will probably be higher than 25-29 teams ...and if they run monny, Bennett, and backs as 3 centers there's 3 scoring lines

Obviously I'm biased but I'm not too worried and like the direction of the team

The Flames will be fine once they round out the lines and find a true no 1. That might be Elliott as the season goes on but I just can't see it. Playing backup/starter on a top team like STL his numbers would be a bit skewed or inflated. Still many questions on Bennett's upside but I do like what Backlund brings there but still…gotta solidify those last two lines. Your defense is fantastic but may not carry you through. I hope Elliott works out there. If the Flames would have got Bishop with that current D you probably would be playoff bound even with a lack of 3rd 4th line scoring.
