We dominated for 2 solid years but stayed pretty competitive for most of AV's reign. That was our downfall when he got let go. Should've been Gillis instead.

It was AV's time to go. he had a good run. I think he was tired of the media here and felt like he was dead man walking.

Gillis started believing his own hype. Didn't make any bold moves, didn't move players with NTC's, wanted to honor them, but the club/roster needed change.

I look at the roster today, and think who was in the lineup back to when Torts was hired, all that change.

Fair enough but I think Gillis should've gone at the same time if thats the case. It would've avoided the abomination that was Tortorella.

I think it was a bad diversion from the poor product on the ice.

And Gillis was too slow to adjust. to move on from mistakes. and then afraid to make moves and any more mistakes.

That is what I like about JB, makes his moves and if they don't work out, he moves on (just hoping he can move Sbisa).

I agree. He doesn't seem afraid to keep a constant turnover of players. It's always a good frame of mind to turnover 10-15% of the roster year in and year out.

You did have a good couple years in tbe regular season and a cup finals run ....but you dominated one of the weakest divisions outside the southleast for years ...and without a cup win you can't be the best ...that's how it works

The President Trophy never meant so much as when the 'Nucks had it.

It was kinda comparable to what Randy Savage did for the IC title.

The fact that they have Leafs 13th proves they know nothing of hockey.

Cause teams go from 30th to 13th all the time right?

Two in a row. We were a dynasty. The President's trophy parade was a little violent though. And smokey.

U only can do what u can against who u play.
Weak division was cuz of the oilers & flames of the world.
Cannot blame a team for success because of divisional door mats.

The division has since much improved.

I don't think he's blaming as much as he is questioning the extent of the success given said doormats.
