It may end up that way but I think I liked Mccabe and bogo together. We will see how Riso and kulikov mesh

Is there a rule that would still consider Buffalo giving Vesey the rights to negotiate with other teams tampering? I feel if we give permission, there should be no problem with it. I just can't understand why the Sabres would want to wait this out for so long when there are other things to be done. It feels like the entire league is waiting for this Vesey ball to drop.

If they are allowed to give other teams permission to talk with him, THEY SHOULD! And if they don't, I just can't help but feeling that there's something fishy about this whole thing.

because maybe they know he won't sign here and don't want the other team to know he is going to sign there before august 15th. if its still up in the air GMs might still make moves to bolster their roster

No.

I'll pay a hooker to look like my favorite celebrity. We need success and I'm not going to be the selfish wiener that takes that away from Buffalo.

From what I get out of it, Vesey's going to sign with Buffalo. Going to wait until after meeting with Boston, just to make it all look legit. EOS.
- mattsox

I'm going the glass half full view too. Vesey has to say his hometown is on the short list because he lives there now and imagine the media backlash if he said otherwise. He speaks in very vanilla terms. btw, having a sh*tload of family in Boston would not lessen the pressure of playing there, it would heighten it. He's a smart kid, knows he's playing for his 2nd contract, and knows he won't get the point total in Boston he'd get elsewhere. Chicago and Pittsburgh are our main competition.

I like Nash and I know they have talked about him but that was a little while ago haven't heard much since. For all we know this kid could be all hype so we are taking a chance, I don't think we will see any big moves until Murray gets all the details regarding Kane, until then between that and Vesey it's all about waiting.
- SABRES 89

no room for his 7.2m cap hit with our current structure, unless we moved a couple of guys out, but who would take them? $10m in cap space now, or so, and Risto, Girgs, Foligno still to sign.

I see your point, but I just don't buy it. I think all teams are waiting this one out, especially those who think they have a chance. I agree with 89. I don't think anything of any significance happens in the entire league happens until this domino falls. And to me, that is nuts! It's just waiting around for waiting around's sake.

Whether we get Vesey or not I am glad GMTM rolled the dice with the 3rd round pick. However, like 89' and a few others, I think the Sabres should allow him now to speak to the other teams on his list so that the Sabres can put this Vesey thing behind them. Either he signs or he doesn't but the Sabres shouldn't be held in limbo for another month while they wait.

I agree! It's such a strange rule to have the date be in the middle of August. It holds everything up. I really wish they'd just let him talk to whomever, then they will get the last pitch. I don't see how it hurts us at all. If this whole thing is just a charade, how silly!

You can't bring in Nash without moving salary out anyways. So that's not much of an issue. With 2 years left, it fits well in the long term outlook. I'm personally not thrilled with the possibility, but whatever, it probably wouldn't hurt.

I think It would definitely be beneficial to bring in a vet like him. His numbers are down but Hes a pretty solid 2 way player and he can still flash that elite ability even though it may be dwindling a bit

Along with that, if Foligno was part of the package that is a guy we wouldn't have to sign within the remaining $. I would expect it wouldn't take much more to trade for him since A) he had a down year and B) we'd be doing them a big favor taking whatever portion of that cap off their hands.

What happens with Vesey will determine the outcomes of Girgensons and Foligno, Risto is going no place we all know that.

As far as Nash goes, he will wait to hear the full outcome of the Kane incident before he makes any moves, I heard a meeting will take place between Kane and the brass with Pegula being there, Kane is going to get an ear full more then what Big Z got.

Ennis is another story all together, between his concussions and his back injury it's a wait and see for now.

Big Z is just a big dumb oaf. Harmless but lackadaisical. (frank)in choir boy next to Kane. Hell, who is going to trade for Kane if he gets tagged with charges?

I forgot "I don't mean to make a Kane comment but....."

That's the issue, you gave up a lot to get Kane and then with his so called " problems "
on top of that, what value do you get for him ? You don't just trade him to trade him, he's a good player just makes bad choices at times.

Big Z was just young and didn't get it but, after telling his coach how it's going to be, that was a bad thing. He had other issues as well and Murray had enough but with Kane, that's a totally different situation.

I mentioned before awhile back they had interest in him but that was it, there were no offers or trade talks just interest. I doubt the Rangers would pick up any money and that might be good, they don't pick up any money and we don't have to give up a lot to get him. Don't know how strong the interest is now but where the Nash for Kane rumor came from is beyond me.

Very true and Murray wasn't fond of Nolan but you still can't lip off to the coach and also think you are a " free spirit ".

Very true but if he did put a list together, how many teams on that list can afford him ? We should worry about signing Risto before anything else and that includes Vesey.
