Yup I agree, I know why he was doing it. I just think when Benning got here he thought the team was better than it actually was. Thus he used a few more picks in trades than I'd have liked.
Look I bust Bennings balls on certain things but I also praise him for other things, his drafting in particular. Do I think he's a horrible GM, no, nor do I think he's one of the better GM's. For a relatively new General Manager his learning curve has been steep, but IMO he is learning.
I've said this many times, if he's given enough time, he'll draft a winner in Vancouver. - LeftCoaster
I agree with everything here...and yes, it's obvious he is learning |

Thats good though as long as he doesn't do it again. |

Most teams will bring about 4 draft picks into the lineup over 7 years. Because of state of affairs here we had to super speed up on everything. Bo JV McCann Boeser Demko Tryamkin Hutton and Juolevi is way more than the norm.
You need to insulate the kids with a few vets Sedins Burrows Edler Erikson and Hansen .
Benning has also filled the 22-27 gap. He gets sh1t on a lot but so far is taking care of everything. Things now that they are fixed will slow down to a more normal rate. |

Well, this looked to be a lively thread. Nothing like gratuitous internet bragging to go with troll level hockey criticisms. Seriously, did that guy say was unhappy with the Bieksa deal? How anyone can miss Bieksa is completely beyond me. |

Have as much right to post and comment as any of you, not going any where but thanks for the suggestions & feel free to send the barbs, insults & down right brutally rude remarks.
I won't have your privileges revoked. Not a fragile flower who wilts by insults. I just shake my head & laugh at your level of intelligence. Just curious. How much do they pay a Walmart greeter these days?
If I when all of these prospects make it to the NHL & only a small handful will & we see where the Canucks stand at the end of this season & moving forward, we can revisit & see who was closer to right.
Rest assured I'll rub it in. How many of you had the Canucks other than Benning & crew had the Canucks making the playoffs last season? I certainly didn't, I assume most of you are the same people that slagged me then.
This isn't a feel good love in sight. Were supposed to discuss & debate the merits of hockey. Most of you do anything but.
Enjoy your evening boys. Time to go coach competitive baseball. - striker777

"Super speed up" ??
Isn't that just called drafting, like every team does? "Way more than the norm", what norm is this?
Just asking. |

What seven draft picks are you referring to? I guess that's where you got me. Horvat, Hutton, Virtanen and McCann. Tryamkin got in 13 games at the end of the year when Benning was purposely tanking. So I'm still going with four kids who've played an NHL game. |

Well, Boeser and Demko haven't played yet, so you can't count them. Tryamkin hasn't made the team, yet, but I'm sure he will. So that's five in the past four years....so ok I'm onboard, that is above average I'd guess.

No point...trade his rights now for a conditional 5th...can't take the risk as college kids almost never sign with their draft team |

2017/18?
For the record, the first team I checked was St. Louis, because they put Fabbri into their lineup; between 2010 & 2015 they injected six drafts into their lineup. Just so you know, it's not as uncommon as I'd have thought. |

I'd say it's fair to pencil Boeser in next years lineup...if would take a small miracle for it not to happen. Benning wanted him playing this year but left the decision up to Boeser |

He looked really good at rookie camp. Not sure I'd bet against that. |

I feel pretty confident he would have had a bigger season this year for the Canucks than Mccan had last year. Slightly better size and a higher skill set in my opinion |
