And what precisely are your qualifications to make these statements, you and stinkerbell post as if you are high priced executives employed in the industry, but I suspect you're both just swallowers of media bias. - Makita
I think the majority of what's wrong with most fans is the media bias. They keep believing these guys when they spit out the crap they do. Poor sheep. I like WD for his calmness and poise when dealing with them. They really are grasping at straws most of the time. |

Carol really does have a great view on what's going on. Levelheaded and knowledgeable. Very thankful for her blog compared to some of the other media that covers the Canucks. - WhatTheNuck
For me I think its because she is an actual reporter. She reports you decide. Her passion for all things Canucks and the digging she does is second to no one in the business. Very objective. When she first came on she never liked to give her opinion but that changed and made writing much better. With some their opinion got so strong it overshadowed the work they actually did. Thumbs up Carol. |

Have as much right to post and comment as any of you, not going any where but thanks for the suggestions & feel free to send the barbs, insults & down right brutally rude remarks.
I won't have your privileges revoked. Not a fragile flower who wilts by insults. I just shake my head & laugh at your level of intelligence. Just curious. How much do they pay a Walmart greeter these days?
If I when all of these prospects make it to the NHL & only a small handful will & we see where the Canucks stand at the end of this season & moving forward, we can revisit & see who was closer to right.
Rest assured I'll rub it in. How many of you had the Canucks other than Benning & crew had the Canucks making the playoffs last season? I certainly didn't, I assume most of you are the same people that slagged me then.
This isn't a feel good love in sight. Were supposed to discuss & debate the merits of hockey. Most of you do anything but.
Enjoy your evening boys. Time to go coach competitive baseball. - striker777
1.) Yes you do have every right to post, it would probably help your case (stance) if you actually engaged specific posts and responded instead of general rants, as if your method is more qualified than the next poster.
2.) You do not have that authority, feel free to flag the posts you feel are offending, and if they violate the CoC of this site one of the refs will determine if a ban is worthy.
3.) If you actually discussed and debated instead of ranting you would probably have greater success at discussing the merits of hockey with fellow posters. |

true. 12 pages so far and striker's posts haven't made sense yet. Doesn't have the vision or foresight to see what's going on. |

I love the Canucks or did. Was a season ticket holder for almost 25 years. Bruins are my favorite team but I wanted Vancouver to win the cup regardless. Was heading to the Roxy that night to drink from the cup with my buddies that work & sing there but took in the riot instead. The entertainment district got shut down.
I even liked the hiring of Linden, Benning & Desjardins at the time but it has been an unmitigated disaster. Worst asset management I have ever seen. Having a meddlesome owner is at the route of it.
It’s unfortunate. They needed to start a proper rebuild 2 years ago & not give assets away or keep making trades trying to make the playoffs. Garrison & Bieksa if moved should have been traded at the deadline; if at all, when there values were the highest. Now we have zero to show for Hamhuis as well, another solid top 4 NHL Dman. 3 years ago the Canucks had 1 of the top 5 D’s for top 6 in the NHL. Their top 4 wasn’t as good as the really good teams but Tanev was young & our #5. Edler, Hamhuis, Bieksa, Garrison & Tanev. Solid.
Garrison was replaced with Sbisa, Bieksa with Bartowski & now Hamhuis with God knows who; I don’t like Gubranson, & Hamhuis wanted to stay. Gabranson is a hitter with a physical presence nothing else, Hamhuis is better suited to today’s faster game & still has years of service left as a top 4 as did Garrison, played as TB’s #3 last season & 4 the season prior, cup & conference appearances the last 2 years, Bieksa Anaheim’s #4 this season.
Brutal but it doesn’t just stop there.
This is not a playoff team. 1 of the worst defenses in all of hockey, scoring after the top line is virtually non existent. Good luck & good riddance. Gave up my season tickets even after the incredible enticements I was offered to keep them. Everyone I know but 1 other person has as well this summer. 3 years of dropping attendance. Curious to see how may people buy tickets & show up next season. Couldn’t give my tickets away to the 2 SJ games in March! & numerous other games last year, nor could my scalper buddy sell them. The majority of games I attended many were shown as 18K & change in paid attendance, couldn't have been more than 13K in the building if that.
I would suggest all Vancouver fans go to ESPN, highlight teams, choose Canucks, then click on transactions & few everything Benning has done since arriving. I should warn you it's not for the faint of heart. - striker777
Understandable. I didn't like the Bieksa and Garrison trades going down the way they did or the non trade of Hamhuis. Definitely didn't sell any of them at the peak value. |

At least I'm providing something of substance. What are you offering up. Immature BS.
In 2 to 5 years lets see where the Canucks stand. With the current make up, prospects currently in the system it's going to get far more ugly before it gets better & I'm not just talking about a 3 to 5 years ugly. The rebuild to date has been handled well. Assets expended should have garnered better returns. They didn't & there is no way to make up for that now.
Nor do I have any faith in the current management team to achieve it. We should be adding picks not spending them. We're not adding enough prospects fast enough.
It takes almost 3 years for most prospects to get to the NHL if not selected in the top 10 another 5 to show there true colors. Horvat was selected 9th, was sent back to JR for 1 year & now has 2 years of NHL experince under his belt, his break is still over a year away. 20 to 25 golas & 50 to 55 points for Horvat next season. Potentially more if he had someone other than Baertschi & Virtanen to play with. - striker777
Yeah, I hear you. |

I think it's somewhere around 30%, which is not "very very low" but, as mentioned, he had a lot of work to do when he got here.
To me drafting is his thing, I just wish he'd do it more. But I understand we can't have it both ways. - LeftCoaster
Just to clarify - You mean 30% of 2nds actually play a game right? When I said 'very very low" I meant the amount of them become significant players that make a difference being in the lineup.
Anyways, I agree Bennings drafting is by far his best asset/skill. I want more as well. I think in terms of what Vantal said about actually injecting those players into the lineup is essentially the only way they're/we going to get better. (its the definition of draft and develop)
I'm not sure if between the years of 2007-2012 if the players we drafted were just not good enough to warrant a shot at the big league or they were just not given a shot bcus we had no room. Either way, few ever got a chance so we'll never really know - and that's the difference - now we're actually giving those players like Hutton and Tram - who were selected later in the draft a chance to play. |

If those players were all sold at their peak value the Canucks wouldn't have made the finals and there would have been absolute bedlam in here ....sometimes you have to be loyal to players and can't just treat them all as separate stocks on the stock market ...some will be at their peak at different times and who would want to sign with a team of all they do is trade players once they peak |

Exactly well said. If Guys like Striker and a few others here had their way we would still have the Gillis 2011 era team dreaming of going back to the cup final...
Watching Gillis draft and handcuff this club with NTC's was atrocious. Sure it was great we got to the cup final with some real shrewd moves by Gillis but all the while most of us knew the team would suffer for it long-term.
Personally I would rather see some good drafting by JB and filling some needs and gaps on the team moving forward, rather than watching the 2011 team get pounded every year in the first round of the playoffs. If guys like striker want to keep Bieksa Hamhuis Burrows Kesler Garrison Salo Higgins and those types of players here long -term well...they have no vision whatsoever. |

Well said...Striker is living in the past and resistant to change. The rationale that you keep Bieksa Higgins etc. because you don't like the return on the trade market is absurd. CHANGE sweet CHANGE. I am ecstatic we have some new blood on the roster while keeping our two best players from the old core. Hitting? Speed? Youth? It's a new concept and it's scary for folks without vision as you said

I had no problem with Gillis's initial flurry of NTCs for cap friendly deals and trading draft picks for immediate help - the Canucks were right there, right on the cusp. It's when he continued to do it after the Canucks were clearly on a downturn that caused problems. What good is having a bunch of home town discounts when you have no roster flexibility? It's fine to mortgage the future when you're a legitimate contender, crazy to do it when you're not.

Stricker had some valid points to which I agree with. He didn't come across as a guy dreaming of 2011 all over again. He just doesn't agree with how new management is handling the team. He doesn't see their plan. Striker didn't want t keep those players, he wanted return. My argument was as you say Gillis handcuffed the team in more ways than one.
Drafting was deplorable during previous regime and everyone is seeing those repercussions of Gillis's lack of vision. If you're telling me Gillis had a plan for the future you're a f@cking retard.(not you personally);0
If we want to point fingers at management letting players go for nothing lets look at who Gillis let walk for nothing in return...
At the top of the list we have Markus Naslund, Ohlund, Demirta(RIP) and Morrison. Pot meet Kettle.
