The deal is perfect. When the deal expires, Nash's cap hit will be off the books one way or the other, He will have played out his contract or the Rangers trade him and retain some of his contract. If he produces he will be paid, if not, NEXT
I really think this is the key. In two years, this team will have the flexibility to make the moves we all wanted them to make this year. Until then, I think they should just weather the storm and hope for the best if it truly is a gridlock on the trade front. - Bean_Dip
I agree that you agree w/ that quote. NYR CANT take any chances right now. If they are going to ride out current contracts, which it seems that they are (i.e. Girardi, Staal, Nash) then bridge deals are the way to go w/ our RFA's w/ Kreider as the possible exception. (Kreider already had bridge deal, so he might be more difficult). Lets see if Hayes and Miller can play w/ some consistency then sign them long term if they earn it when $$$$ are available |

I thought everyone is comparing Miller to Reilly Smith and Vincent Trocheck - rangerdanger94
Hell no, I don't want any of the rfa's signed for close to 5. Execpt maybe Hayes. I'm still on the fence. |

For $4.7M per year for the next 6 years, then he should consistently score 25-35 goals a year.
Isn't that why you don't want to give Kreider that same extension? What changes for Miller? His effort? If we were willing to give that type of extension for effort, Hagelin would still be here.
Kreider and Miller scored almost identical stat lines this past season. The difference is that Kreider scored 21 goals the year before, and 17 goals the year before that. That's 3 years of pretty consistent production. Miller scored 10 the year before and 3 before that in his short seasons.
But Miller is the consistent one worthy of $4.7M per year but Kreider is not? - rangerdanger94
Vince Trocheck, Mikhail Boedker, Nik Bugjstad, Justin Abdelkader all disagree. |

Vince Trocheck has one 20+ goal season. Just like Miller. |
|
|
|
Where did you get that number from?? I never once even mentioned close to 4. I said if he was willing to take 3.25-3.5 for longer.
Your also leaving out Miller hasn't had a shot at top line minutes( his own doing with the attitude) and almost no PP time compared to Kreider. - mdw7413
Yea but what does attitude really mean? Like do you think AV meant Miller gave him a sassy attitude? Or do you think it means his overall attitude towards hockey was bad (he wasn't putting the work in to be a professional, didn't take practice seriously, didn't think defense was important, etc)?
If it's the latter, then that only works against him. I really don't think it's because Miller was sassy to AV |

I had said 5-6 years at $4.25 mil per. Rask just got $4 mil for each of the next six years. I think Miller is between him and Trochek/Smith, so 4.25 mil seemed fair. |

I'm fine with that. I just listed a bunch of guys that don't score 25-35 goals that are paid similar. RangerDanger wants a team full of Joe Pavelski's |

Well yeah, I think it was his practices and how he was preparing for games that AV alluded to.
Kreider might do all the right things at practice but give me Millers effort game time over Kreiders any day. |

True, and that deal has a risk of being a mistake for Florida if he doesn't reproduce it. |

Give me Hagelin's effort over both - rangerdanger94
If Miller can build on the season he just had and score lets say 27-30 gs, who do you keep in hind sight. Miller or Hags |

I think Miller was really smart to go bridge deal, just like taking the 1 year qualifying offer last year. He is betting on himself. If he keeps getting better he is gonna cash in big. |
