This Vesey short list gets longer by the minute. - PugsNotDrugs
Even if he chooses the Leafs, per Uncle Lou's rules-of-the-road, he would be forced to play 2 or 3 seasons on the Marlies before getting a shot on the Leaf's roster. I also hear the kid likes to sport a beard which won't fly on a Lou run team. |

Rumors of a deal with the framework of Zacha + Kinkaid for JVR. I do it but only if we can extend him come the contract expiration in 2 years. - willschulme

Can you imagine if players dont sign with certain teams because of the beard law. That would be so funny. "You mean I can make 5 million a year but I need to shave?, ehhhhhhh" |

An interesting stat about Larsson- Last season he faced Giroux, Crosby, Ovechkin, Zucarello and Steppan the most 5on5. They combined for 2 points (the rangers pair each had an assist) in combined 182 mins.
Last seaosn, the only players to get more than 2 points against larsson were tarasenko, lehtera, and spooner. (minimum 10 mins against, could be a couple more with less time.
Also, since 2014, Larsson has held Crosby pointless in 66 mins.
I get the trade, but in the long run i think we lose it. I know it is the unpopular opinion, but boy the EDM and other fans saying we ripped them off are out to lunch. |

Dekeyser was solid but Schultz sort of flubbed in choosing Edmonton (though I see why he chose them). This free agent stuff really sucks, as if the draft system isn't bad enough.
The problem with approaching a kid like this is if you give him a max entry level contract, you run the risk of him getting big headed and what not. I only want this Vesey kid (and he sounds good) if the organization handles the situation properly. |

Signing Vesey would be great for the team. Even if you don't think he'll be as good as he's been hyped up to be, his stats are impressive and it's not like we're giving anything up to sign him.
We could use some better forward prospects at center more then LW, but Vesey is still worth giving a contract to. If nothing else, it gives us more depth, some roster flexibility, and another trade chip if Shero wants to go the trade route to acquire a young defenseman if our own prospects don't look like they'll be good enough to fill out the top 6 properly.
As for trading for JVR. I'd pass on that. He's overpaid for a guy that is only going to give you 50 points per season. Also, adding a guy that's 27 already isn't in line with our plan. The rest of our young players are all 25 or under, so JVR would be past his prime when we're trying to compete for a Cup when Zacha would be just entering his prime and could very well be just as good, if not better than JVR. |

Yeah I have no interest in moving Zacha ( who has a way higher ceiling and is way more of a goal scorer then a bang garbage around in the crease type guy ) for JVR. He is a nice player and on a good deal but he isn't a 70 pt player and I would rather wait and find out that Zacha isn't that either then move him for a 50 pt guy like you say and have Zacha become and elite NHL threat. |

IM kind of bummed about Hall's jersey selection. It's not that I think 9 is a bad number ( it isn't ) I just think for the Devils it's a boring pick. We lost parise and since then everyone seems to have wanted a number 9 that was good. I find the pick a little boring because watching Hall play he is more of a Parise type player then a pure sniper. I just hoped he would of picked something more original but it obviously doesn't matter and I am not saying he made the wrong decision, just thoughts lol |

His thought process behind it is pretty cool though. He talked about wanting number 9 since he was younger, but it wasn't available. Then he just stuck with 4. At the end of the day, I just hope he gels with the team regardless of the number. The prospect of having 4 guys that can theoretically net 30+ goals is exciting. Granted i doubt that will happen, it definitely spreads out the scoring. |

Kind of late on the original topic but wanted to say regardless of what Vesey does here it is nice to see the Devils on someone's short list for once. Things like this are a good sign that the organization is heading in the right direction. |

Question - can you sign a guy to a 2-way deal that is equal NHL vs AHL or similar? Like 1.5m NHL salary 1.0 AHL salary? |

Just looking at the cap space available with players like Bennett which are huge question marks, I just wonder if they say went out and signed Hudler AND Gagne and told them they have to compete for their spots or the play in the A for the same pay until needed. Albany needs to be competitive. When players go down through waivers unclaimed they get their NHL salary right? Stupid thought I guess but just thinking if we handed out a 2 year contract to someone like these guys then they are surpassed depth wise, since the owners have money, rather than another Micheal Ryder on the bench or Ruutu eating up a roster spot. To make it desireable for them to sign a two way deal - make it the same either way or just a minor pay cut. Those two names might not be the best examples, but maybe a PTO guy like Kennedy. Just wondering what the rules are on this type of thing. Is there no cap in the AHL? |

well you could send them down. the cap savings are 900k if the players are in the minors. this is also assuming they don't have no movement clauses. I dunno about signing hudler for anymore than a 1 year deal |

Little late; but I've seen all this information about how close Vesey & Eichel are. That they play on the same line in a summer pro-league and yadda yadda yadda. That said, I only just found out that the 3rd member of that line is Lappin. IDK if it means anything, but it makes me feel a little better about the tiny chance we have to get him. |
