Fry thinks he should.

I think he could. Never said he should have those minutes over another top six Center on the Flames. We have better options obviously.

He comes into next season allowed to play his original position with a new coach; he'll have a shot at getting back into form.

I feel like this is the Markus Granlund conversation all over again. Both players got doghoused and pushed out of their position. I think both of them have 2nd line potential if they can get back on track.

Although being given the shaft by Hartley and not getting ample opportunity, I don't think Jooris has the offensive instincts to play top 6, especially if you're thinking he could do it as a C.

He had some good moments in his 1st season but he never showed anything that would make me believe he is capable of being a regular scorer. At very best, he's a Backlund lite. D responsible but less likely than Backs to show offensive flair.

I think we're going to disagree on this and that's fine. But I think you are likely on your own in your thoughts on what Jooris could be at this level.

Yeah I gotta put a D on the end of Fry's name on this one. No way Jooris has top 6 potential.

Guys like Jooris are fan favourite's because they put so much effort in but you don't want to get enamoured with them, if you do it spells cap hell.

Look at Lance Bouma. We are all hoping he will rebound but, if he does not that becomes a stinker of a contract. Also a guy like Bouma did well under Hartley, but might not do so well under the new guy.

Speaking of Hartley, whatever happened to his biggest fan Big Ern? Kinda disappeared the same time as Whipper. Coincidence?

Does anyone think BT signs one of Versteeg, Pirri, Vrbata or Tanguay to ensure that Chaisson and Very aren't in our top 9 and Tkachuk isn't forced into the lineup?

With what $$$$?? We have 14.0 mill left in cap & ironically, that is about what it will take to sign Monahan & Gaudreau. We have to go with young guys we can send down at the beginning of the year until we can get Smid on LTIR.

Exactly (above), and Jooris was 100% bottom 6 material. Bouma, Chaisson, or AHL callups can do what Jooris did. Our bigger problem is the Smid and Wideman contracts. I am also not too fond of the Brower signing, either, but who am I...

At this point you'd think a guy like Pirri would sign 1 x 1 and there's no way Monahan is getting 7 million. Gaudreau might but I think even his contract will be closer to 6.

Only place we'll feel Jooris' loss is on the PK. Him gone means more time for Bouma, and that's definitely not going to help.

Way way too much love for bottom 6 players. Jooris was not a top 6 player. We already have too many bottom 6 players. I believe smid is done so add his cap to that 14 we have. I'm sure Tre knows that. Having left only 14 available with Johnny and money left to sign. GFG.

Stings?? If the Flames can not find someone with the same penalty killing skills and a little more offensive skills, they have bigger problems than it looks from the outside.
Flames will make the playoffs this year, it starts from the net, and we are strong there now, defense is good, offense is coming. Now its all about the heart. I believe in what I see.

You can't have 116 minutes in a regular season game.
- Jeropotato

116/2 = 58. 2 dmen play at a time, at least in Calgary. Maybe that's what the Oilers have been doing wrong for the last decade...

If the money's there Pirri would be a good 1 year deal

I don't even dislike the guy... he's just not a very effective penalty killer. Honestly I'd put him back on Backlund's wing and tell him to crash the net and bang home garbage like he did 2 years ago. If he can do that and throw 200 hits, I'll be pumped.

Well if he's got a role on this team, hitting is definitely involved! I think he has a much more productive season. Getting hurt at the beginning of the year last year really slowed him down.
