I'm not sure Nantel will be able to crack the team especially with compher also batelling for a centre spot! My dark horse to make the team is Greer which would fill our other winger spot we are looking for! - Icecold088
Greer could be a very interesting dark horse pick, I wouldnt be shocked to see him play some NHl games this year |

Let's say compher really impresses at camp. Do you think the avs might trade a Comeau to free up the 3RW for him? Bit of a thought.
Iam liking the idea of a compher Greer jost line though in the future! |

Yeah I can see that too! He's so dead set on it that he might surprise a few people! Plus he's cocky but not too much either! He plays with so much confidence out there! |

Personally I have Colborne as the 3C. My ideal lines would be
Grigo Mack Dutch
Landy Soderberg Rant
Comeau Colborne Iggy
McLeod Mitchell Martinsen
Compher (would like to see him at 4C though)
I think thats the most balanced roster that the team can do, however would liek to add Pirri or Versteeg for the bottom 6, especially if they can move mitchell so they can move Compher to 4C. - DDM-Coga
Every time you write Mack Dutch together my heart flutters a little. I would also like to think of them as the primary line getting neural zone starts...given them some ice to use the speed VS 2nd line that can grind with O-zone starts... |

I don't disagree but I don't agree either. I look at it like this...
Ej and barrie are our top 2 guys. They'll play big minutes. PP and PK. Then we have Beau and Tyutin as seasoned vets with Beau being a guy who can play all situations but not 25 mind a night, Tyutin a shut down d guy. Who does it well by all accounts. Which leaves zads, Weircoch and gelly. Bigras I think will be ahl bound and play big minutes with Siemens being the 8th d up here but it wouldn't shock me to see him getting sent down. I think Weircoch is the best if the 3 Hensel why I see him possibly cracking the top 4 with barrie. Then zads because he is NHL ready buto needs games and time here to develop. With gelly being more of a filler. But note I don't know really what to expect from him except a wicked slap shot.
I agree with another winger. But that will have to wait till the arbitration hearings are done. It is possible we go over salary with the 2 contracts? I like the idea of pirri. A d the possibility of Dutch with Colburn! - Skywalker87
I think you are overvaluing Wiercoch by a good bit. Zads is certainly far better and he is probably more in line with Gelinas. Gelinas is similar to Holden where his biggest issue is mental mistakes but actually has a high upside and can actually make good outlet passes.
Zads>> Gelinas=Wier but the two play very different styles.

I think it all revolves around where Colborne fits in best. Most of the Cal fans pretty much said he was a winger at this point but I wouldn't be surprised to see all kinds of line combinations this year |

I dont think its too crazy thought, Weircoich and Barrie played so well together at the World Championships 2 years ago so I think they would explore that pairing at some point in the season.
I do see Siemens making the team as he requires waivers to go down to the AHL, in my mind the team wouldnt have qualified him if they dont think he can be the 8th dman on the team. I dont think they want to risk losing him for free.
Bigras probably will start in the AHL, just based on current 1 way deals and waiver exception, however he wont be down there for long. First injury and hes called up - DDM-Coga
I dont think Siemens has a chance of making the team out of training camp after we signed Tyutin and Wier. He would have to have a really strong showing which would surprise me. I don't see him beating out Gelinas for the 7th spot |

Compher is the only rookie fwd I could see the team adding to the big club out of camp.
Was talking about it last night with some buddies, but we were wondering could the Avs dump Mitchell to the Wild for Schroeder. Apparently they waived him bc they werent happy that he filed arbitration.
He would be cheaper that Mitchell and would be a small speedy guy to play C or the RW.
Highly unlikely the Avs and Wild make a trade but that would really help the Avs cap cap situation if they can shed up to 900k in that move - DDM-Coga
Avs mgmt is smart enough not to rush guys. I don't expect any surprises this year. If they kept Mikko down last year they will almost certainly do the same for all the younger guys. As injuries happen then we may see guys jump up.
Especially for guys like Greer though, I'd expect the Avs to be very patient. |

Wing is the Avs weakest position by miles. Why would they trade one of the few reliable and flexible guys they have on a good deal? |

Pretty much guarantted that starting roster locks are
EJ, Barrie, Beauch, Zads, Tyutin. That leaves Gelinas, Weircoich, Siemens, and Bigras fighting for 6-8. I just think Bigras starts in the A, Gelinas makes the opening night roster with Siemens and Weircoich as the healthy scratches.
Its not a nod to Siemens over Bigras obviously, just the narrative of development, letting Bigras play big minutes in the AHL for a little longer and they protect an asset in Siemens.

compher might get a look. He has a spot to win at camp if he shows up and is on display. He probably starts in the AHL, 99% chance he does, but wouldnt shock me to see him play a hand full of games like Mikko did to start if he had an impressive camp |
