Favorable matchups are possible, they are just rare. Having 3 lines like the Penguins did is great because someone out of Malkin, Crosby, Kessel is always going to be facing bad comp. However, this is a massive exception in a league that is chalk full of parity.

For the most part, players play against all levels of competition and weak matchups are balanced by weaker linemates. This is why game-to-game you can exploit matchups, but over the whole season it tends to balance out. Tends being the operative word here. Obviously exceptions exist.

And that is the problem most of you have. For every guy who has a real point and a good argument, there's ten people just trying to show you up who focus on the most minor inconsistencies or think that an exception IS a rule or whatever. Like, I always want to learn, so if you have good points, I will listen.
