I actually like the idea of a line of Kane/Girgs/Bailey
That's a fast line that can wear teams out and also has some semblance of skill - sbroads24
IF we sign Vesey, next season...
Vesey-Eichel-Okposo
Nylander-O'Reilly-Ennis
Kane-Reinhart-Bailey
*maybe switch around the top9 guys to see how chemistry develops
Foligno-Larsson-Girgensons
*this could be a female dog of a 4th line to play against that could really hassle other teams' scoring lines
I really like that forward group
Without Vesey, or another legit top6 type guy...
I'd put Girgs with O'Reilly & move Nylander up on the Eichel line

This is Carrier's year if he can continue with where he left off last year
Edit: Dark horse call up-Dupuy - MCGUIZZY
Carrier is probably the 2nd call up after Bailey
Dupuy might see some time up here if there's enough injuries
Catenacci is a very fast, pesky kind of player tht could get called up again |

I will guarantee he has an ELC by the time the preseason starts. This is a non-story. - Zschalberg
I don't think it's quite a non-story, it is July after all, but I think it's absurd to think he won't sign before the season starts. |

It's curious to see what the holdup is
How hard is it to give this guy the max rookie deal? |

We have alot of options in Rochester that will be waiting for their time. I think in another season we can replace pretty much our entire bottom 6 with the guys we drafted/in Rochester.
Girgensons, Foligno, Larsson, Gionta, Moulson, Deslauriers.....all replaceable
Question is when will their replacements be ready |

The log jam has begun. Welcome to Too-Many-Forwards-Land, you can check out, never leave and all that...
Absolute Locks to make team if healthy (10)
RoR Jack Samson Okposo Kane Girgs Ennis Larsson Foligno Gio
Most probable given current roster, Day 1 Starters/Scratch (3)
Moulson D-Lo CoR (last center if girgs/ennis are wing)
Prospects ready by 2017-18 season(4)
Nylander, Bailey, Fasching, Carrier
Prospects possibly ready by 2018-19 (3)
Asplund Baptiste E-Rod
Most likely never make it but wild cards nonetheless
Cornel, Estephan, Catenacci, E-Rod (Put in both spots because he is a tweener. I liked what I saw in the couple games he played last year with the big club)
Without accounting for any draft picks at all, we are going to have a lotttt of competition at forward. Gio goes after this season, but that's the only one that is most likely leaving. Only other departures would have to be trades. |

What if Ennis or Reinhart centered those 2?
I think Reinhart can make ppl around him better
With him at center, those wingers likely score more than if it's Girgs setting them up - jdfitz77
you guys see a lot of Reinhart jersey's around town and at games? I'd like to get one, but no way I could choose Reinhart over Eichel. My 3 year old daughter cheers for one athlete in the world and it's "Jack Michael, Woo!" |

He's never picked 1st overall though to my knowledge either
I get his old school thinking, and there's something to be said for it...
Just not in this instance
I really hope Matthews just gets pissed & demands a trade
That would be awesome |

That's all just about right on IMO
There's a few guys u forgot though:
-Olofsson-
has been getting better & better. I wish he was coming to Rochester this season, but we'll have to wait till next. Could end up being a top9 guy at some point.
-Possler-
another potential sleeper. Was awesome after he got drafted until he got hurt. Got back on track last year though. Also likely to be in Rochester next year & could eventually play for us in a top9 role.
-Karabacek-
idk why Murray was thinking here. Horrible pick IMO. Had a really nice playoffs, but not good enough to reach like he did. As a former 2nd round pick, maybe he still us some trade value. Ugh
-Dupuy-
haven't watched him all that much. Baker seems to like him, but this year in Rochester should give us an indication as to whether or not he can ever make the NHL
-Malone-
if the guy can just stop getting injured, could be another Gaustad. I thought the same of Schaller though (don't know why we didn't re-sign him?)
-Hurley-
another pick I hated. Wanted Santini (NJ) at the time, who looks to be a solid defensive defenseman. Hurley has been getting better, but unless he makes a significant leap, I doubt he'll ever be an NHLer
Those are my takes anyways |

Possler has shown absolutely no interest in coming overseas to play for us. I dont consider him part of the future.
Agree on Hurley and Karabacek. Also wanted Santini

No Larsson?
And I think Asplund will be the top center in Rochester that year, or the 3rd line center here. Wouldn't make much sense for him to center the 4th line.

Idk why u say that about Possler?
Many Europeans stay overseas for the first few year after they get drafted. NHL teams are ok with it bc we don't have to pay him, meanwhile we keep his rights while he's still developing against pretty good competition.
I wanted McKeown or Dougherty instead of Karabacek. Both good defenseman prospects that dropped in the draft.

He has not come over for any of the dev camps (was eligible for at least two so far). Oloffson on the other hand has. There has been speculation that he doesnt have any desire to come over. Kris baker has hinted that he thinks hes very comfortable in Sweden and just may simply want to stay there
Dvorak was a notable player that we could have drafted over Karabacek as well |
