The Tax Law, Just One Month Old, Is Roaring Through U.S. Companies
From acquisitions and equipment purchases to stock buybacks, firms are rapidly re-calibrating their business plans.
“We’re only 30 days into the tax reform process,” Lowell McAdam, chief executive of Verizon Communications Inc., told investors on Tuesday. “We’re all trying to understand the implications and what we can accelerate and how we can accelerate.”
Along with announcing its repatriation of cash held overseas last week, Apple Inc. pledged to invest $30 billion in the U.S. that it had held abroad, despite having to pay $38 billion under a one-time tax on those accumulated foreign profits. Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co. now estimates it won’t pay cash taxes until 2025, because its existing credits will stretch out an additional five years when used to offset taxes at new, lower corporate rates.

Can somebody itemise or do a run down of this FISA memo stuff without being blindingly partisan?
Thanks - Cape Breton Bruins
The memo hasn't been released, so it's hard to know exactly what they're doing. It is a partisan memo though and it's from a congressman who was supposed to have recused himself from the investigation due to coordinating earlier efforts with the White House.
Rumor has it they're going after DAG Rod Rosenstein for extending a FISA warrant on Carter Page (one of the many Trump people with suspect Russian contacts). Any extension of a FISA warrant must be taken to a FISA court where the Department of Justice must illustrate proof that the warrant is providing something of substance over the last 90 days. (Side note: this is why Trump's "Obama illegally tapped my phone lines at Trump Tower!" bit is so stupid. The president has no power over these actions and the Department of Justice needs proof before it can do these things).
So why are they doing this? Rosenstein is the only thing standing between Trump and Mueller. If they can pretend that Rosenstein is doing something illegal, they can fire him and bring in a new, corrupt DAG that will give Mueller a hard time.
Republicans have gone so far off the deep end. They can't comprehend that an organization like the DOJ or FBI can be non-partisan even though they've been doing it since their inception. Trump wants them to be loyal to him when their job is to be loyal to the law.
The whole thing is a (frank)ing mess. Dems need to take back the House at the very least or this thing could go completely off the rails.

Jeepers. They seem to be taking extraordinary steps to limit or stop Mueller from digging too deep on the Russia stuff. Where there's smoke...
Russia must be enjoying all of this, a divided American political system.Republicans and Democrats both need to realise that the Russians only favour division, not one party or the other necessarily.

I don't even think he coordinated with Russia in some secret way. If there was really a smoking gun, someone would have found it by now. I think he's terrified that they'll look at his shady business records and find some poop.

They tried, and have found zero evidence of collusion ........... so they shifted the search to find obstruction on justice ........... again no evidence (yet), so they tried "he's not physically fit" until his physical, so they tried "he's not competent", until the results of the cognitive test was released ........... then they trotted out Stormy Daniels ....... and they'll soon run out of reasons that the American's can buy ..........the cupboard is bare.
