Anyone else concerned that Perry Pearns nephew is their scout for Larsen.
Nothing against Daine Todd, who is clearly a pretty decent hockey player but it seems more along the lines of the " keeping it in the family " mentality that we have seen this group use when evaluating and acquiring players. - belcherbd
No, he cost us a 5th round pick Larsen has played in the NHL and I am sure they scouted him in the KHL. If he sucks....who cares |

You're right, if he sucks it certainly isn't a big deal, I just hope their scouting dept for the KHL consists of more than Pearn's nephew. |

I don't think you're being objective enough. The Sedins PP numbers, and minutes on the PP, are a direct correlation to the teams complete lack of secondary scoring for the majority of their careers. In other words, they were out there so much because the team didn't have a very good second option….they still don't.
Daniel has 330 PPP in 942 career games, that more than 1/3 of his points on the PP. Henrik has 337 PPP in 970 games, again, more than 1/3 of his points on the PP. - LeftCoaster

The article makes it sound like the Sedins are great on the PP, and the problems all extend from the blueline. That's completely incorrect. For their entire careers, the Sedins have been extremely weak on the PP. Yet, they've always gotten first-unit minutes (plus).
It's not a coincidence that the few years when we had a very good PP - just so happen to be the years when we also had the best team in hockey. All the other year, and our PP has been utterly useless.
Go look up how much time the Sedins have spent on the PP in their careers - and then compare that to how many points they've scored on the PP (and then compare that to their 5-on-5 rates). It's abysmal. I can remember long stretches of time where the Sedins were only scoring one or two points for every 60 minutes they spent on the 1st unit PP. They haven't earned their PP time at all (and yet, the player who worked his way up to being our biggest offensive threat, Alex Burrows, always got shafted and got to watch from the bench for years).
That's why our PP always sucks. The people who get all the PP time don't really deserve it. And, when you reward the wrong people, it destroys the morale of everyone else. - stringerbell

While improbable, though not impossible - it would be great of the Larsson that the Oilers gave up toe Nucks has a better season than the Larsson the Oilers got in return for Hall. I see a guy like Giordano who was unheralded and played in Europe figure it out. Why not the Canucks Larsson? Who would have thought that Tanev would be a top pairing d-man, or Hutton in the top 4 in his second year. OJ was a sound pick, as I actually liked him better than Dubois - but who is to say that one of Brisbois, Tate, or Olson doesn't step up? TJ Brodie as a 4th round d-man sure did for the Flames... |

Torts was a numbskull... didn't want the players to have any fun.
Also, trading Tanev makes sense if you get back a dman prospect with some proven ability (Slater Koekkoek) that will translate into developing at the same time as Joulevi and a gritty forward like Callahan... for a Tanev... - kaptaan
My casual reading on the internet is that Slater Koekkoek is not developing as the Lightning would wish. I also don't think that Callahan has many years left. If I were to trade for Tanev to the Lightning, I would focus on Kucherov or Drouin. I don' know how the Lightning will be able to keep that team together. |

I think I am more excited about Rodin. - thundachunk
he is a big question mark.
struggled with injury and his game when he was in the ahl, goes to europe and turns it around.
does he have an nhl game or is he better suited for europe?
JB said he sees Rodin on the 3rd line wing. how much rope will WD give him?
I look forward to seeing him get his chance. |

He has to play with the Sedins or Horvat/Baer. One of the smartest things Chicago did with Panarin was to play him with Kane. If they do not put Rodin in a scoring line, I see no point having him here when others may be better suited in a defensive role. I see Sutter's line, whether one wants to call it the second or third line, as a defensive line. |

Pretty much. Can't see him being worse than Weber lol.
That said, there does appear to be a logjam at D, somethings got to give.
Larsen, Tree, Sbisa, Pedan, Biega and possibly Juolevi all battling it out for that 5 and 6 spot |

absolutely....watching tape on him it leaves you very excited he could bring all that to our team. Very good player.
Button pointed out Rodin when he was drafted was extremely sought after, but he couldnt put it all together at nhl level. He went on to say that a after a couple years now he appears to have discovered that level. |

I'm looking forward to seeing Subban's progress. From all indications, he's been developing nicely and addressing and working on some of the weak areas of his game. It would be great to see him improve on the defensive side of the puck in order to take the next step up, as he's obviously talented when it comes to bringing the offense. I think he could be a bit of a sleeper in terms of grabbing a roster spot - if not this year then definitely the next (as long as he continues to develop at the same rate) |

Between 2010 and 2016
Daniel has 65.85 % of PP time and has provided the team with 75.56% of GF.
Henrik has 65.25% of PP time and has provided the team with 75.53% of GF
Daniel has 30.02% of 5v5 and has provided the team with 37.14% of GF
Henrik has 29.59% of 5v5 and has provided the team with 35.57% of GF.
So in other words both Sedin create a higher % of goals relative to their ice time while on the PP by a small margin. Or I don't think his theory stands up.
