I like him too but I don't see him as a top pairing d-man without Suter. He's 5 years older likely in his prime, and puts up similar points to Dumba. - Vanillaface
True but he could be that PP presence the Oil need on the right side. Had something like 15 PP points last year if I recall correctly. |

Actually, Spurgeon works better in this than Dumba does. Cap-wise, he is closer to RNH. He is the right-handed shot the Oil are still wanting. And he is more of a top 2 defenseman than Dumba is right now. And with that, the only way I see BP being added to this is if the Oilers were taking Pominville back.
RNH & Pouliot ($10mil in salaries) for Spurgeon & Pominville ($10.8 mil in salaries).
And I think the Oilers have added their vet forward in Lucic, so there is no reason that they would want Pominville. Not that I really wouldn't like this trade idea. |

Can we have Granlund or Haula as well? We'll give you Yak in return. |

Granlund or Haula would cost Eberle or Draisaitl.
I could think about throwing in Zucker, but I can't as I don't want his fiancé Carly Aplin leaving us. |

Dont mind him Yak for Granlund in a heartbeat, as long as RNH was in the trade with a D man from the Wild going back to you guys. |

why would the wild even want rnh, he has looked like a jv player every time the wild play them. Edmonton is the only team in the league that granlund can push around and rnh is a big part of that. throwing haula into it is just crazy, he put in time on the 4th line learning to play in the d zone and is now showing his offensive talent, was the wild best center last 3rd of last season. dumba still makes to many mistakes but has sick skills and could be a top pairing guy in a couple years, hard to toss that away. hard to trade zucker since he is the insurance policy that the wild dont lose a d man in the expansion draft, vegas could draw some fans by having a homtown boy. let the oil keep there dumpster fire burning |

Why would the Oil even want Dumba? He has looked like an AHL Dman every time the Oil play them. Granlund can't even consistently play C and Haula is a 3C at best. Nuge has learned defense by playing against top opposition for 5 years and consistently produced at a 50-55 point pace. He has sick skills and could be a top end C in a couple years. Hard to toss Pouliot away since he is the insurance policy that the Oil don't lose a Dman in the expansion draft. Vegas could be interested in a capable top-6 LWer.
Do you see how biased representation can go both ways? These aren't my legitimate beliefs; I'm just pointing out the flaws with your approach. |

Absolutely not. Haula is a young centerman who can play in all situations and had a breakout year once Yeo was dismissed. By no means do I see him as anything more than a 3C, but wtf has Yak done to make him so valuable? |

So essentially the deal is
Nuge, draisaitl and pouliot
For
spurgeon, pominville and haula
?
Are you fuking serious?

There is no sensible deal to be made between these teams. At one point, it was possible, but that time passed. |

screw RNH.. wild should just wait on getting a top C until koivu, pommer and staal's $ is off the books in 2 and 3 yrs.. who knows who will become available then.. and i don't think RNH is huge improvement over granny has a better shot that's about it.. 3 mil more than granny for 10 more points a year. i'd rather ad a 30G guy before another 35A guy |

That's certainly a rational point
But the proposal I initially responded to was literally one of the worst and most lopsided I've seen on hockeybuzz.
And that's saying an absolute ton |

Let's look at Haula for Yak.
Yakupov has had 24, 33 and 23 points over the last 3 seasons, and is a -84 in +/-.
Haula has had 15, 14 and 34 points over the last 3 seasons, and is a +28 in +/-.
Looks to me like Yak has already plateaued whereas Haula is just reaching his potential. No thank you to Yak. |

Ok, I'm bored at work and I think it is close enough to the season that we can start running our own projections for what the lineups will be. Here is my take...
Parise - Staal - Coyle
Zucker - Haula - Niederreiter
Granlund - Koivu - Pominville
Downing - Graovac - Stewart (with Daple in the pressbox)
Suter - Dumba
Scandella - Spurgeon
Brodin - Folin
Reilly - Prosser
Dubnyk - Kuemper
FORWARDS - I think the Parise line is a given. And if BB can get Pominville to become an accurate shooter again, it's good to have him paired up with 2 guys that prefer to set up then shoot. Haula and Nino, if they can continue their magic, I think that will just help Zucker score more.
DEFENSE - I think Dumba needs to learn more from Suter, and still provide a lot of offense. Scandella & Spurgeon just seem to work together well. If SS can get some anger and meanness out of Folin, that pairing should be decent shutdown tandem. Reilly and Prosser, yeah, they are on the team.
GOALIES - Pretty self-explanatory.
Those are my ideas and views for things as they stand RIGHT NOW. Let's hear from some others out there on what they see and expect. |
