I'm at the point of just wanting him to stay. It pisses me off when our sports teams look like fools. We look like fools right now with that deal. - sbroads24
Win some, lose most. Every team has made bad deals. I wouldn't worry about looking like fools since we all do at one point. Moving forward with what we have now I say best plan is to keep him this year. If he gets 30 goals his value goes up and he'll have 1 year left and be easier to trade. If he scores 30 and doesn't get in trouble we can either keep him to do it again for 1 year while we wait for Nylander to hit his NHL stride (having both that could score would be nice) or trade him for more. If he doesn't do as well or gets in an incident you put him up to LV.
At this point it's lose-lose but we can make the best of the situation. |

I want him to stay actually. He is a good hockey player. He skates, shoots and scores goals. He's tough too. He can fight. Seems like a Top 3 guy to me.
It's just the off-ice stuff that is causing all this trade talk. Wish this guy would clean up his act and ends up staying here and having a great season. - mattsox
Well it's also the fact that he did only put up 20 goals and 15 assists. I like him too and want to keep him. If he comes out and goes 30-30-60 there will be less complaints. He needs to either clean up the off-ice antics or pick up the on-ice production. Both would be good as well. |

Hope he stays and stays out of the news. What ever he does doesn't effect me one bit . I couldn't care less what other teams/fans think about him or the deal we made. |

IF Kane is traded. We better be getting alot back. We gave up alot to get him here in the first place. - mattsox
Kane's value atm is around 70%. Getting alot for him won't happen now but if he stays and puts up good numbers we might get more for him at the TDL. |

It's less than that.
He's turning out to be one of the biggest immature douche bags in the league, if not the biggest, and is a complete band-aid. Furthermore, he's never topped 60 points and hit 30 goals once five years ago and hasn't surpassed 20 goals since.
Which teams want that kind if crap around?
Buffalo is better off keeping him for time being and hope he can turn it around. |

The second one helps their cap situation by tossing Sbisa in the deal. I'd rather have Baertschi. - mhp
You're getting one of their top defense prospects + Gaunce who can play a role like goose someday .. But getting subban is a major steal
Baertschi I like but he has been a huge disappointment did he put up somewhat respectable numbers because he was on a very bad team maybe
But he couldn't do anything with the flames that's what worries me

I'm looking for a great season from him, and not because I like him in particular, but rather because I want to see that redemption actually works. |

For me it is also more than just points. He was our most effective hitter, he disrupts opposing defenses, and if he can corral that shot he'd be a 30 goal guy every year. He is our fastest, toughest forward. That kind of intangible stuff is nice but, to agree with your point, his trade stock will soar if he stays clean and scores more...we just need his speed so bad right now. |

Particularly in a team sport where the scoring often results from this sort of effort - a team sport like icehockey - this is why the fancy stats will never really truly reflect a player's value.
The guys with high intangibles will always be undervalued, and the guys with scoring prowess will be overvalued.
I am not saying there is a better way. I'm just saying even the best way is flawed. IMO. (But I black out from the liquor a lot.) |

They do though in a lot of ways.
You could also argue intangibles get overvalued

I don't know what will happen with him but I remember last season I was getting ripped here because I'm an EK fan, love the way he plays the game. I don't like the off ice stuff but if he stays I love the idea of him, ROR and Okposo on that 1 line. They'll drive the opposition nuts with the forecheck in the offensive zone.

Maybe this is why the analytics stuff was created, to try to quantify the unquantifiable. I have so little time to get deep into that stuff but much of it makes sense to why some players who rarely score are really valuable and still get paid millions. |

The subban one? - GERBE!!!75PTS
Subban is a nice prospect but he's about it as far as that trade proposal goes. And we already have some nice d prospects in Nelson and Guhle, not sure we have the need. Gaunce is a 4th liner and Sbisa is a cap dump. Who replaces Kane in the top 6? Not crazy about that trade idea. We're better off keeping EK and see what happens with him. I'd rather see his value rise during the season with a good performance and look at a better deal at the TDL. |

And there's a lot of people that can replace Kane ..
There's not very much value with him right now we don't have any top prospects that are defense Besides Guhle
You pretty much just have to chalk this up as a loss and get rid of him if he's going to be a problem |
