Carle had his best season as a Flyer when Pronger was injured and out of the lineup for most of the season. That Carle couldn't play without Pronger was a myth. - MJL
Which season was this? Carle had 40 points and a plus 30 rating in the 2010-11 season where Pronger played 50 games, which is more than half the season. Carle went on to collect 38 points with a plus 4 rating the following season when Pronger only played 1e games before having his career end with another injury. |

I added that since you always have a pesimistic attitude it seems.
How many teams have a player nominated for each of those awards every year? If there is a team every year it's only one and not the same year after year. That's how it's unrealistic. Hockey is a tough sport that teams have to deal with cycles. You are seeing the Flyers coming out of the down cycle yet all your comments are you want it now. Wait a few years and you may see what you want. But it takes one this this town has very little of, something called Patience. Which is exactly what Hextall is using in building this team. - dragonoffrost
So you're gonna give me attitude when I'm not giving attitude? My, you certainly are a much bigger man than I am. All for what? Because I want to contend for more than just Cups? What's wrong with that??
I said contend, not win and as I just stated with names, the Blackhawks do it. The Kings do it when they were winning. The Red Wings did it when they were winning. The Devils were doing it when they were winning. Lidstrom, Brodeur, Datsyuk, Kane, Keith, Doughty, Neidermyer, Zetterberg, Toews, Fedorov.....Do I need to go on? They didn't always win but the players always contended for something every year.
My comments aren't all of what I want now. When did I say this? Even if I did, so what. |

We need hockey.
Some of these conversations are just wow.
Edit: But id did find it funny that the Eagles were awarded the 2017 NFL draft the year they lack a 1st round pick. |

I had seat for years in the Flyers d zone and it seemed that every time a late game costly turnover happened it was either Coburn or Carle making it the last two years of their tenure here. You could tell because as the goal was scored one of those two was skating away head down. - dragonoffrost
Many have to prepare themselves for these situations over the next several seasons.
Having a young D core will be as frustrating as it is exciting at times. Ghost already had a few of those moments last season but his golden aura is still well intact. I see Morin/Sanheim as the most likely scape goats but all of these guys are going to make mistakes, sometimes critical ones. |

i was hoping you would say something else but ur seriously hoping each and every year for a vezina or hart as much as a cup? the fact that ur even rooting for individual awards on any level as the cup is preposterous. hockey is the ultimate team game, its the reason why its the best pure sport left in the world, its a breath of fresh air to see guys going to battle for each other night in and night out on the ultimate stage, these guys live and die by each other, theyre friends, roommates, best men, g-dfathers, to each other. and your worried about us not getting an award based solely on an individuals performance?
u understand why ur being the villain by making claims like that right? |

So let me get this right. In talking about past players and what they've accomplished, nobody cares about winning scoring titles because when Giroux was coming close year after year, there was a great pride among everyone here when we weren't playing for anything but Giroux nearly won the scoring title twice in three seasons and contended for the hart trophy. Stuff like this is remembered and spoken highly of around here to make points whether a player might be a Flyer or not.
This is just a popularity contest as BiggE is now proving. If someone doesn't like something a post, they goat me into an argument because of something I said that upset them last week. |

Excellent job Bill, as usual. It seems that Ken Dryden is the only one left from that era who still doesn't recognize the talent the Flyers had on those teams. Phil Esposito, in particular, always talks about how good the Flyers really were. |

I agree completely that team goals and winning the Cup is far more important than individual awards. However, there are frequent conversations on here about individual awards and how many felt Gostisbehere deserved the Calder. That went on for days. Or how Giroux or another player was snubbed by Team Canada.
