You said Benning knows rebuilds don't sell tickets. We are three years deep already in a rebuild . It is not like we have to start one this year - VANTEL
How does it take to get from the beginning of a rebuild to being a contender again?
5 years, 7 ? |

It's supposed to be 5 but most teams just can't get it done in that time. |

3-7 years is probably more likely. It depends on what you already have coming up when you start, as well as the talent available where you draft. A few young studs can invigorate an old line-up and then take over after the elders leave the team. Our biggest problem is that we have nobody to definitely replace Hank. I think Boeser could be a replacement for Daniel personally, i see him as a 30-40 goal player when Daniel retires. |

Ah, you quoted the wrong one, hence the confusion. Yes you can't sell a rebuild to fans, and ultimately with no clear cut #1 center coming, you can't say our rebuild is 100% complete. BoHo could become that #1 center, he has the potential, just more likely a solid 2c. - Retinalz
I think they are close to 80 % done. Now one maybe two trades and draft regular draft picks |

I think the only piece we are missing is a clear cut 1c to replace Hank. Once we have that the rebuild can be called over. |

true, but unless we draft high it is hard to say we will draft that true 1c until we see them play. Plus Tavares is going to Toronto, just like Stamkos did |

Unless we win the lotto, I don't see us picking top 5. |

So we are contendiers in 2 years maybe 4?
I don't see it. Joulevi and Demo might just be starting their careers, two of our most important prospects. |

How many franchises have gone from close to last place in the Torts years to a contender in 5 years? Tough thing to do in the salary cap era. Growth YOY is what's important |

Fans deserve a competitive product and playoffs should always be the goal. We will likely be in the hunt for a playoff spot this year but we won't be a contender for a awhile. The new regime inherited an organization with 2 legitimate prospects. They aren't miracle workers and patience is needed |

I look at Boeser who what's drafted in the twenties, he has top line skill. We can do the same with center |

I see us finishing 14-20. Ih healthy we will flirt with that WC spot and if decimated by injuries out of the PO's. |

I don't disagree, but there are more top 9 players in later rounds, than top 3 players. |

I agree, who were those 2 legit prospects out of curiosity? Bo and shink? Hutton ? Markstrom? Corrado? |

Tanev was starting his full third year when Benning arrived? Was he a prospect? |

We have only one, Gil Perreault. He finished with 512 goals and 814 assists for 1,326 points. He spent his entire career with us. Dave Andreychuk is #2 with 804 points. - mhp
Hey bro, have you found a new home?
Glad to read that you're about to enjoy retirement. Good on ya. |

It's so hard to predict. Our top line C was an ironman for close to a decade, and much like BMo since he missed that 1st game has been seemingly injured often since. Even if he plays a full season, I don't have a whole bunch of faith that he'll do it near full health due to his age.
Add in the fact that one of our goalies, top wingers, and top D are also aging/and or injury prone and I could see us finishing either in a wild card spot if we remain healthy or right near or at the bottom if we don't. |

Utica loves the Comets . It is a big part of there culture. Linden also said Comets have 41 home games and 41 more away/home games meaning the fans travel well with their support. No reason to move them at all. We get our weekly reports and we can follow on Internet. - VANTEL
I agree. Awesome market. I'd love to make it to a game out there sometime. I heard that a fan with a fake leg had taken it off and was using it as a beer receptacle during their Calder run. Not quite the Stanley Cup, but still pretty sweet.
Honestly, I'm not too upset over the farm team being so far away. I'm not sure being closer to Vancouver and Vancouver media would be the best thing for their development. |

Nah, I don't think he counts. Although definitely was clearly a building block at that time. |
