Also, he will command north of 6 million if he has a good season. Do we want to pay that to him in two years with all the young guns coming? I say trade him now for D - steve362
Excellent point - I think we do want to pay him $6 million a year or so - because he is a top six LW on almost any team in the league. There is a lack of LW depth in the NHL - twice as many good RW's around. With the acquisition price and salary of middle of the road d-men in the NHL (Boychuk for $6 million, Markov for $5.75 million the list is very long) why would you move a top flight asset for mediocrity?

KC rookie sac bunted down the first base line. He ran a good foot or two inside the first base line outside the lane. Then turned inside first knocking the 1b's mitt off and blocking the throw essentially. Ball went wild and with the two men already on KC scores two runs and the guy ends up with a triple.
They reviewed for over 10 minutes and said there was nothing wrong.
Then the P was drawn in the sky. - markmark
That sounds pretty ugly. Almost the opposite of a blown call by that twat Carapazzo last week where he called 1B interference for no apparent reason.
MLB really needs to find away to prevent umps from making spectacles like this. |

I saw it, the umpiring incompetence is now in the same category as basketball officiating - which is documented to be crooked. I almost broke the tv during the 19 inning Jays loss in which the umpire's strike zone was brutal. In addition he tossed Encarnacion and Gibbons in the first inning in front of a sold out crowd on Canada Day. Would like to see that official try that poop in Yankee Stadium or Fenway - he would be torn apart after the game.

As much as I pile on NHL refs, at least most of them don't try and make the games about them. Umpires waaaay too often seem to want to make a show of themselves and get into pissing contests. It's embarrassing and the league should be embarrassed too because no one from the teams to the umps to NY seem to have any idea how to interpret a lot of the "rules". |

I find the 'elite goal scorer' part of that post funnier.
He breaks 30 once in his career and he's suddenly elite Ty must have penciled Jason Blake in for the Hall of Fame after his 40 goal campaign. - 1979AD
Bruinsiak calling him "one of the best goal scorers in the game".
Man if the Bruins can give that little dippoop 7M, i'll be the happy they're spending their money so badly. |

The buyout failed for Cowen, let it go, and see what Babcock can do with him. He was a 9th overall pick, and his hip has been repaired, maybe he can work out to be a top 4 guy and pair nicely with Gardiner. I just don't get why the Leafs want to ditch him so badly, with the guys they place on LTIR, they have the cap room. |
