Yeah...and JJ Abrams basically swore that Benedict Cumberbatch's character in Star Trek wasn't Khan.

When it comes to movie theories, I don't believe a word any executive says. They need to keep plot twists secret, even when they are well known.

- buffalofan19

Eh I don't believe JJ but anyone knew that even before Star Trek

I agree with you to a point, it did give you some time to sell Buffalo to him but I think the mistake comes in where Vesey made it very clear he was going to Aug 15th and see what is out there, everyone knew his intentions.
- justmike

Right but it gave Buffalo sole negotiating time. Something they they wouldn't have had otherwise. It was a 3rd for ok we know you're going to Aug 15th. We just want you to know what we're about.

is the plan with Girgensons based upon what Vesey does?
- IndianaSabresFan

I think the Kane plan is based on what Vesey does. Girgensons is forever linked to Fowler IMO

I like he tries to trade up to get his man later in draft

I like the ror trade, but price was steep

I like the trade with panthers

that's about it

- homiedclown

Besides O'Reilly, not a single move has really panned out yet.

I liked this draft, but he's batting .500 at best right now. I'd say he's been a pretty average GM that gives above average sound bites

He went home to play.

Can't compete there. A back-up goalie gets to go home. He liked Buffalo but my guess is if Calgary wasn't interested he would have signed back here.

GMTM took a chance on a skilled but troubled player. Lets be honest immaturity can be corrected though so not really a mistake in trading for Kane. That said the immaturity is still there and now its escalated to this IF true. The bad part is his trade value is pretty low and cant see teams going to trade for him until it has played right out. IF guilty it could have some ramifications.

Only thing to be done really is wait it out, try and minimize the distraction, and pray he doesnt do anything else in the meantime!

- Roadrunner75

Or....expose him in the expansion draft and let him go to Vegas, then we can just grab some popcorn and watch the gong show unfold.

I am afraid he is going to stand pat, when 2 more moves need to be made
- homiedclown

But his moves have been, so far and according to some, suspect so maybe standing pat for now is not a bad move. Maybe seeing that wd have so many youngsters who will all show different rates of growth, and more importantly we have so many vets that have to get their crap together this year or find themselvesconthe outs, we play out the year and see what we got....at least by the tdl.

probably his best assests that he acquired (reinhart and eichel) were due to DR..

Pretty much. He was given a last place team and he kept it that way

I still say making the dreaded Kane/Myers trade helped make sure that we had the best chance at Eichel, Yotes and Leafs were tanking (with dignity) hard at the end of that season and could of threw a wrench in the plan IMO

ok on smaller trades

lost the kane trade
may lose the fasching/mcnabb trade
signed moulson to a bad deal
doesn't look like vesey is going to sign
bad choice for back up goalie
probably losses the lehner trade

should be on the hot seat if we don't compete for the 8th seed or better this spring

- homiedclown

Opinions vary.

I think, and I don't want to take credit for the theory since someone else posted it a while ago, that he is bringing in a backup who will only play if the team is too far away from getting Ullmark/Kransdorf to a game that a backup may be needed for.

I like what you guys have going on in Buffalo, even if he doesn't sign you guys have a great talent pool. I look forward to Buffalo/Toronto actually being a rivalry again.

Just read an interesting theory.

Rey is Palpatines granddaughter.............

They are the only 2 force users to use the forward thrust...........

Ren knew her because he trained with her under Luke.

Luke hid her and vanished.

- dadeadhead

I like it more than her being Luke's kid, honestly, and with the pattern of the originals - the 2nd movie will get darker/have a good person doubt the purpose of remaining good.

that theory pretty much means you are going to lose any game he plays in.. you can't play a goalie 8 games a season and expect good results

As much as it sucks we need to give him this season and next...at that point if we aren't atleast in the ECF then Murray should be out the door.

That amount of time gives all of his "core" enough time to develop and become comfortable with eachother to the point where we should be top 3 in the Eastern Conference

Unfortunately in a salary cap world you almost have to hit bottom before you can build a championship team (Chicago not included), maintaining the status quo only works for so long before you have to send off the expensive stars for younger and cheaper.

No but putting yourself in the best spot to get those pieces to make that team i think we can all agree that Eichel is > Kane. I don't think TM's plan was ever about keeping Kane past his contract. I feel it was all about cleaning off as much of the slate as possible. Maybe im wrong maybe he was gung ho about it and really thought Kane was going to play the rest of his career here but i dont think so

It's still in the infant stage imo. Can't fill a roster with vet allstars.

He apparently tried trading for him or helped tried to trade for him in Ottawa. Kane as a player is fine. He was just never worth what they gave up. But whatevs..

I don't call it a skill, but it is strategic and intelligent in the case of the '15 season. Stanley Cup teams are usually led by a Jack Eichel type player. If Murray doesn't shamelessly tank that season away, trading goalies who are playing well, trading for injured players, etc, we don't finish last. He was willing to go farther than any other GM to secure Eichel.

IMO, Eichel is not a Sabre if Darcy or just about any other GM was in control that year.
