3. Barrie = we don't have the pieces that Colorado would want.

Hartnell for Sbisa would be intriguing. With Gagner signing today it could be a win/win that address needs from positions of depth for both Van and CBJ.

I am not sure what the hell is going on in Colorado. All their star players want out and they want to get rid of them.

I think Colorado would be most interested in draft picks first of all and next good players with good contracts.

You're right. If you can upgrade without giving up significant assets, you can rebuild faster. But that means you have to get more than you give in every trade which means you have to be smarter than all the other GMs or at least find a couple you can fleece on a regular basis. I don't think that's realistic over the long term.

What you can do is acquire lots of picks and prospects that allow you to buy a quicker rebuild while keeping the capacity to develop players to keep the process going.
