3rd line?
Bailey-Girgensons-Ennis
Maybe Moulson instead of Bailey? - mattmoulson
My Ideal 3rd line:
Kane Girgensons Bailey
Top 2 lines a combonation of Eichel, ROR, Reinhart, Okposo, Vesey, Nylander
In a dream scenario of course. |

You're obviously biased against Ennis
He's averaged 20.5 goals per 82games for his career
Hagelin has averaged 17.06
U act like Ennis blows
Scoring 20goals a season is no joke - jdfitz77
I am not saying Ennis blows but he was clearly lost last season before his injury and I feel he is the best player on a bad team but just another guy on a good team and just another guy making $5 million better bring more than 20 goals.
IE if Kane can stay out of trouble he is a big bodied fast skater, who is a pain to play against. He brings more to the table than Ennis does. |

he was getting a ton of mins to get those 20. THe big boy clubs make roster changes he can be on the change list - hubie
"He was getting a ton of mins" huh?
For about 2 seasons that sounds right
That 20.5 goals is averaged for his WHOLE career, not just those 2 seasons where he played top mins |

I agree Kane is better than Ennis, and would agree Ennis is over payed, but I'm not gonna base his whole career on a bad start last season. If you get 20 goals from a relatively healthy Ennis, that's perfectly fine for a top 9 guy |

He also has missed 100 games in his 6 year NHL career. Not counting his 10 games in 2009-2010.
So he might average .25 goals per game but he doesn't average 20 goals a season in his career if you want to split hairs. He is relatively healthy minus missing a ton of time in 2 out of his 6 seasons. |

And what if we don't sign Vesey?
Also,
I think Nylander should play in the AHL for a season
Seems like you're leaving some guys out too
Foligno, Larsson, Gionta, Moulson, Ennis, Deslauriers
That's a lot of 4th liners or guys to trade
I think your lineup scenario looks a little better for next season |

Career....
TOI
17:35 per game
I'd say that's a ton of minutes, imo. |

Lots of guys looked lost last season
New coach & system, new linemates...
Can't expect everyone to get it down right away
Let's see how this year goes |

I hate that people frown on his size. As long as you're not asking him to play that role he's going to be effective against those weaker lines. I think that sophomore year where he he really gained some fans he was doing most of that on the third line no? Rust and Kunitz aren't exactly big guys and they were more than effective on pitts third line. |

Could u break it down by season for me?
I could be wrong, but I feel like that number is inflated by the 2 seasons where he played top line
Can't find where to get that info
Regardless
17:35 a game isn't a ton
That's 2nd line type mins i'd say |

Doesn't your 2nd line get a ton of minutes...?
I guess it depends on your definition of ton. |

Yeah, depends on how u define it
My point I guess was that there's been plenty of games where he's played closer to 15min per & still produced at a good rate
If memory serves,
He only played top line mins for 2 seasons |

This is correct, and the same thing I have repeatedly said about Kane. There 82 game averages mean nothing when they never play 82 games.

This would be a formidable Top 9 if it came to fruition. A lot is hinging on Vesey signing with us. Methinks he will be a fat kid at the candy store on August 15th and some other team (Blackhawks) is going to show him a lot of candy. If we land Vesey and grab another solid D, I think we have a realistic shot at the playoffs.

Yup, the whole "Top 6, bottom 6" thing needs to stop IMO. Just refer to it as the top 9, and 3 other dudes that aren't very good |

But are still useful in some way, that seems to be how it is with the cup contenders any how.
Devils advocate to my ennis point though, you really, really don't want to be paying someone 4.6 mil on the cap to be on your third line even if your 2 best forwards are making less than 1 mil each. |

No, same way you don't want Bogosian making 5 mil to be the 3rd or 4th best D man. That doesn't mean I'd kick him to the curb to sign Roman Polak.

It was that regardless of icetime, Ennis has been productive throughout his career... Not just recently when he's gotten big minutes |

I said in a dream scenario. It also doesn't mean it has to be this coming season.
The 4th line would be
Foligno Larrson and a player not on the team with Delo being the extra forward.
I am hoping Moulson goes to Vegas (fingers crossed please please please) Gionta retires after this coming season. Ennis is the only one traded.
I do think in a year or sooner Ennis is not on the team. A lot does depend on Kane though. |
