I plan on bringing up how Couturier is going to surpass Giroux as the #1 center on this team next season

I also except him to have the normal growing pains of a second year young player but I do wonder how much of the later season struggles had to do with his hip issue
- nastyflyergirl

and maybe who he was playing with :D he was without a doubt getting lucky at the beginning though...shooting over 20%

Didn't Smith turn out to be a wife beater?
- flyer_nutter

Yes. Entered domestic abuse counseling and stopped drinking in order for charges to be dropped.

Jason Smith? I remember a comcast interview with his wife during his return to Edmonton. Who would have thought? Especially how he impressed so much during training camp to become our captain. As tough as he was sober and as much character as he had as a leader, I can't believe Gator turned out to be a wife beater.

Jason Smith, Danny Briere, Ray Emery, Tony Amonte, Wayne Simmonds and Chris Pronger are all guys I wished were Fyers long before they got here. Peter Forsberg was the player I was in pure disbelief we ever were able to sign.

August 2010. Not reported widely here, obviously. There was court ordered separation for some time that fall.

Damn shame. It bothers me to hear this about him. The Sean Burke stuff too.

Everyone has a skeleton in their closet. I don't know yours and you don't know mine. That's why it's so easy for us to judge.

I'm not defending him. I'm saying we don't know who is hiding what on this very web site and from whom. Robert Esche seems to be fine with being Sean Burke's best friend.

Everyone is entitled to their own opinion. I have a low one of abusers, and I don't care how "good a guy" anyone else thinks they are.

I wouldn't expect you to change your opinion on this top or any other. In this touchy one, I liked who he was a player. I don't respect his actions but I also don't know Jason Smith personally. I don't know what set him off.
