If Sanheim, Provorov and Morin all work out, Ghost will probably be at best #4 and I could see him paired with Morin. Otherwise he's a Third pair and top PP unit guy. - dragonoffrost
100% agree. I expect Provorov, Sanheim and Morin to be better defensive players and doing a lot of the heavy lefting. Hagg and Myers are still two very big wild cards for us. |

If we're going to label someone a troll because they spelled someone's name incorrectly, are we also going to focus on grammar issues? Such as sentences start with a capital letter, and I is supposed to be upper case. Sentences end with a period, etc. Just curious. - MJL

Just curious. Right now, not a year from now or ten years from now, right now do you fellas view Ghost as anything more than a third pair offensive defensemam on this team? Based on last season, I was only impressed by his speed and his offense. Right now there is no questioning his workethic but right now expect Provorov to be a more balanced player right away. I also don't expect Ghost to be used in tough defensive situations ahead of anyone we already have including Brandon Manning, who I don't even care for.
I'm not saying my views are correct, just expressing how I feel. - roenick97
Right now, I view him as a top 4 defenseman. |

On today's roster I view it
MDZ
Streit
Gudas
Ghost
AMac
Schultz
Manning
Figure in a few years adding Provorov, Sanheim, Morin, Hagg, Myers and all the above being phased out except maybe MDZ
Provorov
MDZ
Sanheim
Morin
Ghost
Hagg
Myers
Of course those are just speculation based on my eyes at Development Camp and what I've seen from MDZ and Ghost. Myers is a total wildcard, |

Thank goodness for that! Imagine a third jersey now with some lame nickname on it like Bolts or Sens.

Flyers is a great name but the best I can say about the Orange and Black is that it stands out.
Devils had a naming contest in 1982 and could have been the Americans or Blades among others... |

If you're going to have a franchise in New Jersey, the name "Devils" fits perfectly because of the "Jersey Devil" legend.
As for the Flyers' color scheme, very few professional sports franchises employ the color orange well. The Flyers are one of the very few.
I like the old school orange jerseys they have now, but I still would like to see this come back:

I put Schultz ahead of Mac and Ghost. Top penalty killer and plays against most of the top pairs. Normally leads in team in blocked shots, no? I would likely put Schultz ahead of Gudas. |

IMHO, the top 4, in no particular order, are Streit, Del Zotto, Gostisbehere, and Gudas.
Below them are MacDonald, Schultz, and Manning. |

I'd put Gudas ahead of Schultz. They both block a fair amount of shots. Obviously Gudas takes more penalties but I think Gudas has a better overall game than Schultz. |

Something we are sorely lacking. Right now, on a contending team, MDZ would be the only Flyer Dman considered to be a top 4, all situations player. Hopefully this will soon change as the kids begin to break in. |

Well Nick Schultz is more likely to play on a top against the opposing team's more talented players for the Flyers and has been a top 4 defenseman his entire career. I'm not saying Gudas cannot do this but he hasn't for as long as Schultz has. Gudas is only really getting his shot as more than a 3rd defenseman right now as a Flyer. |

I agree. Ideally MacDonald would be a top 4 player based on what he's getting paid. There is no reason why he shouldn't be as good or better than Schultz during his days as a Minnesota Wild player. It's possible Del Zotto can have a dip in play but for the mosr part, last season MDZ was solid before his injury. On a contending team, a guy like Gudas is a third pair player in my opinion. Here he has an opportunity to be more. With this said, right now Nick Schultz is a more reliable player than Radko Gudas. |

i think ghost would be top 4 on a lot of teams...to me that is similar to saying erik karlsson isnt deserving of the norris trophy because he is an offensive defenseman. the way ghost helps control the game puts him easily in the top 4 |

Schultz does play against top lines, but he didn't average a lot of minutes in 15-16, and might get less in 16-17.

I'm not going to say that Ghost can't repeat what he did last season, I'm just going to say he has to prove he can do it all again. What Ghost has done last season with a late start to the season has raised the bar for his own expectations. If he can do what he did last season as an offensive defenseman from Game 1 to Game 82, this wouls be the start of putting him among the elite of offensive defensemen ever probably in league history. At the same time a defenseman still has to be able to defend. There is no question of what he can do with the puck. As a defenseman, he has to round out what he can do without the puck. |
