Looking at the roster and where guys will likely be placed, I'm starting to come around to the idea of JV going to Utica and serving as 1st call up when someone gets injured. Otherwise he could end up stuck on 4th line minutes more often than not and that's definitely not what he needs. I guess for his developments sake we should hope Burrows outplays him at training camp.
There is also always the possibility that Rodin flops or is still feeling effects of his injury and that would open a 2nd/3rd line slot for JV. |

Or he comes to camp strong and pushes Burrows into the press box as a healthy scratch. |

Burrows said he is going to show up in massive shape and steal a spot…gotta admire the guy for that if it happens. I agree that JV should have a one year tour in Utica. You could see by the end of last season that WD was becoming tentative with using him…plus JV was bringing down the Horvat/Sven line a bit when he was on there.
Since Eriksson will be on the Sedin line for the foreseeable future and Hansen will be floating between the 2nd and 3rd lines…I would not be shocked to see Burrows grab a spot on the third line with Horvat/Sven. If JB gets this 'power winger' he wants like Hartnell for e.g....I would like to see a Hartnell/Sutter/Hansen 2nd line. Hansens' speed with Sutter could be very dangerous IMO. |

You're right, hard to imagine a 19 year old with a year of NHL experience to push a slow 34 year old out of a roster spot. Carry on. |

That's the point though. Even if he does that it's likely a 4th line spot... |

I would like to see JV grab that spot but I doubt that he is ready. I hope he is. Burrows is slow and older yes but he brings a few intangibles that JV does not. And having JV in the lineup has upside too…it just appears JV might need a tour in Utica. |

Ya I don't think burying JV on the 4th line will be great for him. Get him down to Utica to log some big minutes with Higgins...

Better than playing in Utica. I'd rather see JV playing than Burrows. Just my take. |

Anyone else concerned that leadership positions within the organization ---- he who shall not be named -- as goalie coach and now this ---- are going to failed Canucks? |

Agree, I don't think he should be on the roster at all during the year if we really feel we can compete.
let him show he can light it up in the A and then bring him back. I wouldn't make him the first call up. Take whoever Green says is ready to go regardless of who it is... let him earn his minutes and promotion if it comes to that. |
