I'm going to take a 'wait and see' approach, before making any decisions about who deserves to play this year.
Burrows could surprise, JV could suck.

This is all one can really do. I for one have advocated the release or trade of Burrows for a few seasons now…but I am super curious to see what he brings to camp this year.

After watching JV on the other hand for a full season and liking what he brings for the most part…I think he could benefit from increased TOI in Utica…could be wrong though.

I do not believe that a 1/2 season or a year in Utica would stunt JV's development. Not iin the least.

Same.

We have to remember that last year JV and JM played in the bigs, in large part because the team was unable to send them to Utica. I would wager that both would have spend the majority of the season with the Comets if the rules would have allowed this.

If that happened, no one would be arguing that they need to play for the Cancuks this year. But would suggest that a spot has to be earned.

If Burrows outplays JV or is deemed a better fit for whatever role, so be it. Like you said, i doubt he'd stay in Utica all year and would likely find himself on the Canucks roster later in the year.

I'd rather follow the Detroit model of marinating our kids in the AHL/Junior until they are ready, then load up when we are ready to strut into the playoffs and kick the door off its hinges.

The core is 2-3 years away, IMO, so let's take advantage of the solid Farm team that we finally have and development these blue chippers properly.

Nobody hates Burrows, he WAS a great Canuck. People hate his salary and current level of play. If there is a way to get rid of him they should. Bring him back next year in a coaching capacity in the organization

I certainly didnt think they'd be going anywhere near round 3 under sullivan.
But In his post win interview he said he learned a ton from the hawks coaching staff the previous year when they won the cup. Yes he was part of the team that won the cup the previous year. So back to back cups for sullivan.

I've looked at the list of players that would be exposed and I'm not concerned, the best one is Sbisa and losing his cap hit would be a benefit. Every team will lose a player and thanks to Mike Gillis we don't have any players worth protecting.
