Vancouver is not "rebuilding" so they think they will be in playoffs (I think its a top 10 pick, but what do I know). I would imagine lottery protection on the trade too.

TB has Kucherov to sign this year. Drouin, Palat, Tyler Johnson, Sustr (d man) as RFA next year with only golaie Bishop coming off books (if they dont resign, but they already gave backup a 3.5 mil deal, that kicks in next year too).

Who knows about Drouin, could go either way. I think he wants to get paid and not sure TB will give him fair value. During his rant last year, he was right, he should have been playing (he should not have done that, but he was right about playing).

He's a smooth skating dman who has a good first pass but doesn't accumaulate many points and hits no one. didn't we just trade away an identical dman. I would trade what I had to (within reason) for Shattenkirk. I know's he's a RHD but he's that good.
