well, I'm pretty sure what you really want is your best player to carry you to a cup, so by that criteria, Sidney Crosby is.

Didn't say Bergeron was, although at this stage he still is. Look, if the criteria is based one who is the best today, then it's Crosby all day. But if you had to pick a year from now then who knows? Could be McDavid, could even be your boy Barkov, but as for right now? Sid.

Barkov is awesome. And only getting better. But the question was whether he is THE BEST in the NHL. Which he is not. With the likes of Crosby out there, and hell, Malkin, and McDavid starting out, he probably never will be.

But elite? For sure.

Barkov's one of the best in the game right now, but lets not get carried away here. With Crosby still holding onto his prime and McDavid in the league as a 19 year-old super stud Barkov will never be THE best. ONE OF the best, for sure. Kid's a stud.

Barkov might have the highest ceiling and biggest impact of them all...league wide.

Or more than one season of elite offensive production and preferably with a normalized shooting %. Otherwise, McDavid would be near or at the top of the list already.

Barkov is an awesome player and fun to watch. I find myself watching a lot of panther games, but to say BEST in the league at center, I don't think so. I wouldn't even say top 5.... Yet. Top 10 maybe.

Crosby, Kopitar, Toews, Bergeron, pavelski (I believe he plays everywhere), seguin, Thornton (even though he's old), taveras would all be ahead of Barkov.

Good blog, and I see where you're coming from..still way too much to prove. I might take him amongst his peers to build a first line around, but still way too green to compete against the towes' and kopitars of the world. Mcdavid is right there too but I'd like to see him play at least close to a full season before I go all tanner on him. Monahan is right there too.

What's your thinking on mccanns place on the team moving forward? In my eyes he's a 1b or 2a centre, or just go deep on scoring and put him 2b or whatever below bjugdtead? A lot of good problems to have in Florida right now..defence looks...questionable, but playing out east and getting top shed goaltending..can't wait to see you guys in the playoffs again

Maybe If the title said "Could barkov become one of the best centres in the league?" Or something like that. But you can't claim he could be the best, and only compare him to one other player and show previous years stats. This could have been a good blog. I almost agree with it but it's argument is just weak.
