It's not a term that should be thrown at every player that has the potential to be a superstar, because let's face it, there are plenty of superstars. So, before we start anointing Eichel a generational talent, perhaps he should actually do something that is worthy of that title. Sorry, but one of these things don't belong: Gretzky, Lemieux, Jagr, Orr, Lafleur, Bossy, Esposito, Eichel. It doesn't matter if Garth isn't the only one to claim that Eichel is a generational talent. He wrote it so he believes it. My point is that you rarely see this type of player in the NHL. A guy who didn't break a ppg in his rookie season is off to a rough start to becoming a generational talent.
