I believe we may have unearthed some sort of pop star cult here. - Mr.Bobby
It is confirmed that this pop star phenomenon is the reason the coyotes rebranded from Phoenix to Arizona. |

Why does everyone have to cry when their guy isn't there?
He's getting up there in age. 2 years ago, he may have been called the best Dman in the league. He's borderline top 5, still, to most. It's not a surprise some may not consider him within the top 5.
Everyone knows he's still a great dman. top 5 is a pretty exclusive, small group. |

Only people who praise Pk over Weber are analytics nerds, online bloggers and fans, and the media. Too bad most NHL coaches, GM's, and players would take Weber on their team. But hey I'll listen to a bunch of armchair experts that look at a graph. - maxbart5
This is like saying "well, Chevy said they sell way more Camaros than Corvettes, but me and some other people, who know nothing about the sales, like Corvettes. So therefore Corvettes are obviously better and more popular".
That "graph" is evidence that Subban is better. Every measurable statistic shows Subban is better, and in Weber's defence, those same statistics show Weber as probably the best dman in hockey as of 2011. This isnt 2011, and Weber isnt very good at 5 on 5 anymore. If you ignore the evidence (like Subban's superior numbers, Weber's steady decline in defensive play, or Nashville moving Weber out for Subban in the midst of gearing up for a cup run), then yes, Weber is better. But the reality is that the numbers never lie, and Subban is better. |

But hits and #gritness. You mentioned none of the #gritness. You're argument is invalid. |

I think that people who don't see him often miss just how good he is. And for all of the back and forth between JT and others here, OEL is a definite top five too.... |

Yeah, there's not many like them anymore. The Sedin's were great, and there's a couple of good youngsters like Forsberg, Nylander x 2 and Wennberg, but depth is a bit of an issue. |

Nice avi, currently listening to a Mikael Akerfeldt song called Roads, you should check it out, it's a slow one.
I like Subban a lot and I think he is often unfairly dismissed but I don't really see how anyone could rank Subban ahead of Burns after last season. - RonPielep
Burns had a great year. However, it can be argued that team Canada left off 2 of its 3 best d men from the world cup roster in Subban and Letang. (Doughty being the other)... Both are better then Muzzin and Burns, and arguably Keith at this point in there careers. |

Tomorrows list of;'players that take swings at other players faces with their sticks' he apparently is rated at the very top - such an honour! (although JJ for once in his life left a Hawks player 'off' his list??? ). |

Some of this is system based. Would doughty look nearly as good in any other system? Would karlsson or Letang being able to function in the Kings system where there creativity wouldn't mesh with the structure? I don't think the pens or kings could win a trade where they swap their 1D. You could probably plug a Shea Webber into the Kings and they would still have the 1d they need even though he's a lesser player. |
