It didn't change - I just didn't know the answer? that's why I asked a question. So there's no date before the season starts but it is by December 1st. See now we both know and we're both equally stupid for not having known such common sense.
Now are you gonna respond back with a list of emojis like a 13 year old girl? - Brooks_Light
I played nhl 16 the other day, I could have answered if I saw the question. Note worthy, I drafted Olli at 5 and 2 years later he was a top 2 D and 86 rating. |

You didn't know the question. If you had of asked the deadline to sign to be eligible to play the season, I would have told you that it was a good question, and the answer was Dec 1st.
Instead you asked if there was a deadline to sign before the season started. Which of course there isn't. It's not my fault you asked the wrong question.

Tuff guy Tuesday must be a real thing. Why is everyone so grouchy?
On a happier note, I will be getting married in less than 2 weeks and will be basking in the beautiful waters of Maui in exactly 2 weeks time.
Hopefully you can aim some of your anger out on this post and away from all the other dramatic posts going on |

really? I don't think I ever have actually - that's why it irks me to get an uppercut for asking a question - most posters are solid and will try to provide an answer - but some insist on making us feel like a$$holes for no reason. |

How many 40 point players did van have last year? He's better then Rodin, etem, gaunce, Hansen, baertschi. - manvanfan
Hudler would have been 3rd in scoring on the Canucks last year....that's depressing |

Watch out for sharks in Kihei. They are eating people at an alarming rate. I'd stick to swimming pools if I were you. |

I'm trying to keep the intelligent level up here. I'm sick of the stupid trade proposals, lineup projections, and plain old stupid hockey talk. Our fan base is full of morons, I'm just trying to promote responsible intelligent discussions. If you can't handle it, go post on tsn.ca. |

Hudler doesn't have a contract either
I think Hudler has proven more in his career. Pirri is a point guy. Van could probably use someone a little selfish. Hudler will help the other players. One or the other. - manvanfan
Yeah but lots of veterans go into August looking for the right fit/deal and consider their family's needs. Pirri is 25, younger than most UFA's, who are usually highly pursued and signed in the first 10 days of July, thats why it seems concerning to me. Either he is valuing himself way too high, or teams consider his Cy Young scoring statistics as an anomaly to his overall game |

haha thanks man.
We had originally planned to get married in Aug 2017 but that didn't really work out. It is insanely expensive. Luckily we have a planner that has absorbed 90% of the stress. On a crappy note though, I suffered a sports hernia in beer league hockey last week and will unfortunately need surgery upon my return home from the honeymoon. |

That was a down year for him, I don't get why ppl are counting him out. Van has players he can help and play with to succeed |

Expensive is basically why I'm not married. I've been single income for last 4 years supporting her in school and her child. She's done next year though, so we will be married soon after.
Can you get a cortisone shot for that? |

I don't think its the wrong question at all. I think its a completely logically question. Just for a second can we talk this out without the insults? Bcus I admit I'm still confused. if I can admit that will you at least extend an olive branch?
here's the situation - Monahan (RFA) for example, doesn't have a contract signed before the start of the season - yet he still has to report to camp and potentially begin the season without a contract? BUT it has to be decided by Dec 1st, so he's playing until then and getting paid how much??? under what contract??
So with that mind - I was searching for this info and having a lot of trouble finding an answer, my thinking was - there's no way he can start playing without a contract - so I thought there must be a deadline before the start of the season....
Would you start working a job without a contract??? No? Me either. Do u understand my logic for asking now?

I believe without a contract he cant show up because the contract carries the insurance information for participating at camp. Regardless of that, players would never show up without a contract anyways, as he cant be suspended without pay because he has no contract/salary to be suspended from and dont want to risk injury |

Thank you for this!!!! This obviously makes total sense BUT I seriously have been searching the internet high and low and cannot find this information.
And Am I taking crazy pills or would it not seem more logical to set the signing date BEFORE the season starts to avoid missing out on playing time - rather than Dec. 1st?

Allow me to assist you my good msn.
With a restricted free agent who has been qualified but has not signed, the player is ineligible for any team related evermore including but not limited to preseason, training camp etc....
If he is not signed by December 1st he cannot play for the remainder of the season or playoffs.
The team has until July 1st to sign the RFA after which time the player becomes an Ufa.
I hope that this answers your questions and concerns

No I like the date where it is because the rule gives everyone flexibility to make moves during the dispute. I think players like it because it provides the opportunity to show to the team how bad they are without them, while also giving other teams the time to evaluate and possibly trade for said player, or wait for key injuries. Teams will try to prove the opposite, and starve the player out of game action to insinuate that they are damaging their value and losing money for sitting out. A preseason deadline I think brings more risk to both sides of the party IMO |

I know Pirri is younger but I pick Hudler over him. Pirri has redflags for me, like Bickell's big playoff type redflags, I just feel like he will underperform his next contract. No substance to back it up, just got a feeling thats why he still doesnt have a contract - WhiteLie
Pirri is one dimensional, he can score when he has a set up man but don't expect him to set up many goals, plus small and concussion issues. Sorry but if you want to add scoring to top six win the Vesey sweepstakes or sign Hudler. For me the verdict is still out on Baerstschi as a legit second liner and would rather see him on line three.
