That Boeser goal was great.
He didn't just freeze the defender, I swear he froze time itself, then put it right in the top corner.
He will be JB's finest draft gem.
He would have been a top 5 pick this year. Great snag at 23. |

Hudler is good, could help the canucks. But I just dont see why he would come to the Canucks. - SRam19
You don't know why a player that can't find any suitors would want to play for the Canucks? This may be a challenge to explain |

I was advocating Hudler before the start of free agency, because I think he could provide secondary scoring and his experience with young players was positive in Calgary. But term/$ is a big concern, and as this offseason has gone on, I share Carol's sentiment that I would rather the team falter but giving Etem/JV/Rodin a change to gain valuable experience, than limiting their minutes for an aging player - WhiteLie
I agree it all comes down to $/term as to whether he is worthwhile or not.
I guess I just think the sentiment you and Carol share about playing youth and potentially allowing the team to falter doesn't seem to mesh well with the narrative of JB pushing for the playoffs. Of course, the two objectives don't have to be mutually exclusive but one will likely be compromised to some degree in order to push the other forward (imo). |

If those are the choices I would rather stand pat. - thundachunk
Yeah that's fair enough.
I just think the Canucks could use Hudler as an opportunity to stay competitive with the aging Sedin's and also to boost their prospect pool by potentially dealing him at the TDL in a year or so. Unless you think the youth are ready to step in today and fill important forward roles then I think a short-term insurance policy in the form of Hudler would be diligent if JB really wants to be competitive.
Maybe I am underestimating what he will cost tho. |

that's a mandate from ownership... push for the playoffs. Aquaman wants the playoff revenue...
i have no issues with adding Hudler. He could be a solid 3rd line addition and the injury bug when it hits would let others fill in and get some time with the big club. If Hudler isn't the guy who gets injured, he's good enough to move up and down the lineup. A major upgrade on our previous utility forward, Higgins.
And now..... Ren and Stimpy will chime in.... |

I think playoffs are what management is aiming for but I think it's more of a competitive atmosphere that JB is looking for.
With all these additions, it will be miles more competitive for roster spots compared to last. And if injuries strike, I think the team has some guys that can contribute.
It seems to me the message isn't clear but the direction is. Does that make sense?

I disagree, he was solid last year. I liked the signing. Markstrom likely wouldn't have developed as well without a veteran to handle the majority of starts
And why is he a pile of sh!t? - CanuckDon
14-15 he has a regular season with a 2.53 GAA and a .911 SV% in 45 games. He did have 6 shutouts. Made the playoffs.
15-16 he had a 2.70 GAA and a .916 SV% in 51 games. Only 1 shutout. No playoffs.
Miller was brought in to shore-up the goaltender position. For 27th place? You don't need ryan miller to get you to 27th place. Now, as you have pointed out, canucks probably won't get much for him on a trade. Someone said a 7th round pick?
So miller really didn't do much for this club in the two regular seasons. Didn't do much in the playoffs when given the opportunity. And now that he's approaching the end of his contract he's basically worthless as trade bait. Now how was this a good signing?
If JB had to sign Miller then I wish he would have done it for 2 years, not 4. Markstrom had 33 starts last season so he's capable of handling more this season I think.
As for the pile of sh!t. I just don't like his smart-ass attitude. What a miserable (frank)ing goat. |
