Eakin is at 3.8 and that's close.

Girgensons (or his agent) has to be out of his damn mind
Idk that he even deserves HALF of that after this past season he's had

Where's Goose been to defend her boy?!

I've been saying since day 1 that this guy should be trade bait bc he'd never end up being a "scorer" in the NHL
He did have that one good season, but he'll never see that icetime again so he'll never get 20 goals

Play him in the top6 this year
Hopefully he can bang in enough points to up his trade value & then get him the hell outta here

3.8mil is a freaking joke
He's a nice depth role player, but if our goal is to have 3 scoring lines then I don't see where he fits anyways
He has some offensive skill, but a guy like Bailey would seem to be a better fit as a winger in our top9

They way average players are getting paid will dictate the contracts, good or bad.

I was told that they feel they have a good chance at Vesey and that Murray isn't waiting on him, sure looks to be that he is. Risto is the most important as of now to get signed.

I blame the linesmen on that one.

He was getting called for the delayed penalty then stood over the guy calling him a p*ssy or whatever and they let him go without taking him off the ice.

Then look what happened...

if Vesey does sign, Girgensons is on the third line, is that what they're saying?

I don't know where he is going to play but you don't pay him 3 mill or more a year. I was told earlier today he's looking for Cody Eakin money.

I still think they shouldn't pay him that. He's not a 4M a year player, he proved that last year. You can't hand out that kind of money for a 3rd liner.

Is he a "3rd line player"
Or is he a "#16 overall pick"

Depends how u look at him...

I think he could fit into our top9, but I don't see him ever surpassing 15goals without getting PP time & top line icetime like he did for us 2 years ago

Good defensive player maybe

But I'd rather slot in guys like Bailey & Nylander, Kane & Ennis, Okposo and...... Vesey? Carrier? Fasching? Hudler? Pirri? Etc, etc, etc
Larsson seems like he can do what Girgensons does, and at a hell of a lot less then 3.85 freaking million

Girgs will NEVER be a 20goal scorer here... EVER
I've been saying this from day one

Try & get his stats up and trade him

To more specifically answer your question though...
I want us to have 3 scoring lines, so I'd expect more product ion from those 3rd liners than Girgs will likely ever give us
Something like Kane-Reinhart-Ennis as an eventual 3rd line
Not a 3rd line checking unit
I think the O'Reilly line can be like our Drury line from back in the day

Yeah, I hear ya...
But that where we've gotta draft & develop well enough that we can ship out guys like Girgensons and be able to replace them with Bailey, Baptiste, Estephan, etc
Especially since we're gonna be paying top $$$ to our young stars

I've been wondering for a while now what the holdup with getting Ristolainen signed could be?
There's been quite a few comparable players signing deals this offseason
Seems like sound 5.5mil for around 6yrs should be good enough for both sides to be plenty happy

I'm not counting on Vesey at this point, but it would be great
Especially with Kane acting like a jackass
I really hope he gets his head on straight bc I do like him as a player

After last year, he might not even deserve HALF that

I'm thinking a 1yr "prove it" type deal for around 1.5-1.75 is fair
If he scores, then he gets His salary bump he's looking for
I'd rather just trade him though
Asking for close to 4mil is a joke

Good blog Michael. Too bad we're not as good as the Leafs.

…If only there was some….system….where we could accurately tell what team is better than another……may be involving points or something? Just spitballing here.

2: Sign Vesey
3: Girgensons + Carrier + 2nd round pick --> Anaheim: Fowler+
4: Sign Pirri/Hudler, max term for either 2 years.
