This is what I was talking about earlier.....
Ice time is one of the biggest impacts on goal scoring, if Bo and Sven are getting 3rd line minutes they wont score 20 goals let alone 30. - belcherbd
I am thinking whomever is scoring the morning most will get the second line minutes. Competition |

The Canucks will be lucky if Rodin scores 10 goals this season. - Marwood
10 would be a success for sure, he's a rookie. Were not looking at the best young player in the KHL coming over (Panarin), were looking at a good player in a third tier league who is coming off of injury. |

Lets see....you said Sutter will score between 10-15 goals and Rodin will score 20 ( ):
Sutter over the last 7 seasons has averaged .22 goals per game or 18 goals per season and is entering his prime now. He has scored 20 or more goals twice in his career. I suspect a likely outcome is between 18-22 goals. Again, this is playing in the NHL.
Rodin has averaged .23 goals per game over the last 5 seasons playing in the AHL and SEL. His best season was 19 goals in the SEL!!! He is 25 not some emerging rookie. I would be shocked if Rodin outscores Sutter and the prospect of him scoring 20 is laughable. - CanuckDon
Thanks for saying this... have thought it so many times..... Rodin is a long shot to make a meaningful contribution like that to the offense. |

Awesome. Have people been putting Tanev in our top 4?
If yes, double awesome. - bloatedmosquito
I think Tanev is a smart shut down Dman. You need 1 player like that. In the past the Canucks had 4 of them. That meant no one was shooting fighting or hitting. I like him better than Edler. I think it is time to try upgrade Edler. |

I agree.
Every year we get hyped on a fresh face and pencil them in to make a big impact.
I have no expectations for Rodin.
Will be pleasantly surprised if he can stick in the lineup all year and contribute. |

Hard to find many comparable players coming over from the SHL around that age.
Zuccarello at 23 scored 23 goals and 64 points in 55 games in the SHL in 2010.
The Following year with the rangers he scored 6 goals 23 points in 42 games.
Daniel Sedin Scored 16 goals and 45 points as a 20 year old in 2000.
He scored 20 goals and 34 points in 75 games as a rookie the next year.
Rodin scored 16 goals and 37 points in 33 games for reference as a 24 year old. |

Not a rookie though correct? Were talking about a player with a few SHL season's under his belt, or no? I'm not saying Rodin is a bust, but expecting anything above making the lineup and contributing some third line points is too far for me. |

No he wasn't a rookie last year and neither were the other two I mentioned but they were all rookies when I posted the NHL totals as Rodin would be this year.
I'm not saying he will put up great numbers, just trying to provide some context for expectations.
Zucarello was dominant in the SHL, came over and took a while to become a legit top 6 guy. He is also much smaller.

Plus he's injured, which should temper any expectations even further. |

Very impressive so far!
That's the 1st time the women have beaten #3 Germany and Canada's ranked #10.
The women's sevens was exciting as hell, too!
Superb effort by the Canadian women olympians thus far! |

If Rodin can make the lineup and contribute 10 goals on the 3rd line while not being a liability defensively then it's a win. I have higher expectations for a player like Larsen. Rodin will be in a dog fight to make the team given his previous lack of success in North America plus his recent injury. I hope he surprises but forecasting 20 goals is |

Proud moments . The men need to show up now. Sinclair Beckie and the two black girls didn't play today.

Fair. I'd say the one thing he has going for him is that Van does have quite a few Swedes deployed, which means the strategy should still be possession. This is the SHL bread and butter (which is why Detroit drafts so many swedes). Hopefully that means he can make the jump.
IS he waiver exempt?

No not exempt.
He will be interesting to see play. I haven't watched him except highlights since he played with the wolves but from what I remember he plays with pace and his stick handling in tight and shot were his biggest skills. Certainly wasn't a perimeter player but not a physical guy either. |

I am not sure I am expecting a lot from Rodin. He is always an afterthought when forming a roster. He will have to have a strong year to replace a current player |

Agreed.
Larsen is another mystery, I don't have any expectations for him but it sounds like he will have a long leash to begin with. |

Perhaps a bit more potential than Rodin having that Larsen has at least played a couple of partial NHL seasons. We'll see. |

And Larsen is hopefully filling a desperate need that the team lacks - PP QB and/or PMD.
Rodin can be seen as another winger with some question marks around durability/strength. If he was a PWF, i'd be more hopeful. |

I have spoken to a few Oilers buddys and they were disappointed when he left, actually played well. The Oilers actually were trying to get him to return and he said he wouldn't play for them for whatever reason. He may surprise |
