G was ranked 18 in the top 20 nhl forwards (I believe it he was ranked 18). Slightly surprised that he cracked that list after his down season last year. |

I actually thought he stepped up in a lot of subtle ways last year -- improved as a captain, bought in to Hakstol's system, etc. Yes, the point production was down a bit but I thought he individually had a pretty good year. |

One year doesn't define a player. From a strictly skill standpoint, he's easily top 20. |

I feel as though Pryor's stock has to be very high right now. Flyers seem to have done really well in the last 3 drafts now, especially when considering how our late round picks are doing.
Is there any chance that Pryor gets a head GM position somewhere in the league anytime soon? I mean, I'd imagine a lot of the credit in the those drafts goes to Pryor. |

I think he'd deserve consideration. |

Stop trying to crumble our finally stable front office the day Pryor gets promoted !
I would assume the fruit of his and hextall labor would have to show at an NHL level before he begins the process of being an NHL head gm. I would also think that drafting alone would not get somebody that position the signings and trades they make together over the next few seasons will play into that. That being said if the Flyers become the cup contender this city is banking on them being. I assume he'd be at the top of many lists come 2019 2020. I still think we are forward depth away from being a top franchise even with all our amazing d prospects (see Nashville) |

Absolutely. Win up the middle. Rubtsov could be it. Or he could be laughton. Hence my belief that drafting while crucial has to actually hit at the nhl level. I'm not saying it wont. But we're a few years away from finding that out. |

Bill Meltzer: Meltzer's Musings: 10th Anniversary of Desjardins Retirement - bmeltzer
I'll always favor Eric Desjardins but Kimmo Timonen really picked up where he left off. I respect Rico give up the "C" while he struggled with it.
Keith Primeau turned out to be a great Captain but at the time, how did you guys feel about Hitch choosing Primeau over Recchi and LeClair at the time? |

Didn't those rankings have Kane # 1? Can't be taken seriously. |

Kane's absolutely deserving. I mean, the guy did win the scoring race this year by 17 points (19% more than second best), and is arguably the most exciting player in the league. There's obviously more to hockey than posting points, but at the forward position, for a top-line star, it's the most vital part.
Oh wait, never mind, I forgot that I must hate everything. |

And I was telling you why he has an issue with Kane at #1. |

He told you why. If you frequent Flyer threads it's known.
On a side note: RIP John Saunders of ESPN. |

The people who complained about Rico were idiots and I chose to not give them the time of day. They were the "WIP" Missanelli listener type of fans who could explain what offsides was but not much else when it came to hockey, yet considered themselves experts. |

One of the few hockey friendly on air talents at ESPN.
Saunders played hockey briefly at Western Michigan and continued to support their program afterwards.

Not everyone can be a Patrick Kane but he's a lights out, performer in terms of posting points on any first line st any level. He's also rewarded by helping his team win Championships, making line mates better and winning individual awards himself. He's an ideal, elite winger. |
