I get your concerns,
But I think you're jumping the gun by a few years - jdfitz77
I like the Hawks. Rooted for them in the playoffs last year.
But with NSH improving, and the Hawks losing Ladd, TT, and Shaw from the roster when they were in the playoffs, coupled with Keith being 33, Seabrook 31, Campbell 38....I don't see them making anymore cup runs.
I'm not saying they are going to be a lottery team

I hear ya,
But I think they've still got 3 years-ish where they're still a contender
The Preds need to go a a goalie though
Rinne has been pretty average the last few years
And they did finish behind the Hawks this year
Hawks have young talent coming up,
Along with Panarin & quite possibly Vesey
Keith, Seabrook & Hjarlmsson all have some good years left too
And Kane & Toews are still in their prime
I think you'd be one of a very few that'll be surprised if the Hawks win the Cup next year
If there were 5 teams he had an interest in but this team (Chicago) is first on my list to talk to it could also be my #1 choice.
Think of it another way. If you had a executive search recruiter tell you I have 5 potential companies you could get interviews with and you might say I don't care for these 3 but this one company I would really love to work for, set it up.
Don't UFA's typically on July 1st go to a team they have their eyes on, get an offer from said team and boom, deal done?
Just a thought. - mhp
There're also schedules to think of too so it might not necessarily be a favorite just because they get the first meeting. Although August 15th is about as dead as it can be in the NHL, so who knows?
You could also make the argument that the last meeting would be the favorite. You've already seen what everyone else has to say, and you want them to blow you away.
The interview scenario isn't totally comparable though. An interview isn't a guaranteed job offer. These teams are offering Vesey a job.
Interesting article. I took it to mean Buffalo is in the lead, if only for comparison purposes. Which I think is a good thing.
He's not going to rush. If he makes a decision before Wednesday I'd be surprised. - Wetbandit1
Seems like there's at least been discussion about whether or not he'd be able to stay w the Hawks long term.
I'm hopeful
I'll bet he decides by Friday though

There are a few people that said last year they were lucky to have the year they did and there was no way they were winning the cup. They really faded towards the end of the year.

That's fair. We'll see what happens. I don't like Buffalo's chances. Never did.

For our 7th & 8th defensemen?
Ok...
Let's hear these "way better options" - jdfitz77
If you add a high end guy it pushes everyone down one spot. Beats re signing those two and improves the top 4. This team has enough depth...the problem is they're playing above what they should be in terms of role.
