Playing and living in a Big city close to home... How does it not make sense? - MCGUIZZY
The Rangers entire offseason plan was to get younger and Vesey fits that plan perfectly. He'll be able to step into a team with 2 people he's really familiar and friendly with in Kreider and Hayes that can contend for the cup in the best city in the world

Rangers are Cup contenders? Is there a joke somewhere in this?

If he wants a big city, he stays home and plays in Boston. Why go to NYC? Ya know, Boston isn't all that small - turbo044
7/27/16 : Craig Custance says that the Rangers should be one of the teams in the running for Jimmy Vesey on August 15th and noted that his agent Peter Fish has a very strong relationship with Jeff Gorton. (ESPN Insider)
Fish says that he knows Gorton very well and has a lot of respect for him and added that whenever he has a free agent at any level Jeff is one of "the first people that I call." (ESPN Insider)
Fish also represented and remains close with Rangers director of player development Chris Drury. (ESPN Insider)
Vesey is said to be very good friends with Kevin Hayes.
It's been reported that the Rangers plan to be all in for Vesey if/when he becomes a free agent on 8/15.
Other teams believed to be favorites for Vesey include the Sabres, Bruins, Maple Leafs and Blackhawks. (ESPN Insider)
Factors such as "the fit," city, coaching staff and future of the team are all things that Vesey will consider while making his choice

I like the moves they made up front, but they really need to re-tool that defense to be cup contenders.
All of this arguing is senseless. I think the guy knows where he wants to sign - bottom line. If it's not true that he can get more money in bonuses by waiting until the 15th, then it clearly isn't us.
If it is true that he can, then we do have as good a chance as anyone. Top three, all of this crap is a joke. No one would know that unless they had actually spoken to Vesey himself, and he's clearly smart enough not to tip his hand to some two-bit reporter trying to make a name for him/herself.
I'd agree that Buffalo, Boston, Toronto, NYR, Chicago and Pittsburgh are all realistic possibilities. New Jersey really doesn't make much sense to me, but who knows.
I hope we get him, sure, but it's not the end all, be all.

I get All this - old news, came out about 3 weeks ago. What I don't get is the NYR and cup contender in the same sentence. They had a god run, but that run is over. It's Buffalo's turn it be cup contenders. Probably not this year, but soon
