Sports announcers from Scotland always make the sport sound so much better than what is really going on. I think the Leafs should hire Gerald Fitzpatrick and Patrick Fitzgerald |

If you want creativity Greens the wrong guy most likely. It could just be the players he has been given but he runs a very similar offence as WD. I like Green and gets a lot out if his players but a lot of his success comes from a defence first style and pretty good goalies so far.....that said I don't know how his Portland teams looked - belcherbd
At least a defense first approach would involve sending out a responsible, veteran line at the right time, instead of just throwing out the next line in numerical order.
Willie has shown 0 in game management skills. Green has a good rep for managing his lineup and developing young players. I'm all for an upgrade in both areas with the current roster.

Last years flack over Corrado was highly overblown.
every team contends with those situations. - Nighthawk
If Pedan is lost on waivers and Biega or Burrows are sitting in the press box (or a player that is waiver exempt is sitting), I'm sure we will see overblown x2. |

Green is the best fit in Colorado by a mile, with the young squad there.
He's also the best fit in Vancouver...
Willie hasn't shown me any creativity or any knack for positioning our projects to flourish.
Benning and Linden had better be on the phone with Green right now telling him that his opportunity is coming or he's as good as gone.
Let's just hope Sakic keeps his Avs alumni streak going and brings in Hartley for a run.
It's too bad Hartley was in Calgary just as iginla was moved, or he'd have another guy in his corner. - Vanoxy

There will be at least one trade before the season. Or we will lose a good prospectt via waivers.
I hope once Vesey signs somewhere another LW wing become available via trade.
Maybe Grenier, a defenseman and a pick could add a piece we need.
The roster is bloated with waiver eligible players right now. I would hope after the flack from Corrado last year that Benning will try to recoup assets rather than exposing decent prospects to waivers. - Vanoxy

Agreed. It was way overblown, but that's the reality of Managing the Canucks.
This year he will have 3 or 4 prospects as good as Corrado on the line. He won't risk facing the same scrutiny, if he values his job... |

The salary cap makes miracles happen...
Christian Ehrhoff
Brad Lukowich
for
Daniel Rahimi
Patrick White.
As long as we don't throw our remaining cap space at a Hudler type, there's going to be opportunities as the season approaches and teams need to shed salary.
Or, you swap a guy like Grenier to a team with shallow forward depth for an AHLer who doesn't require waivers, and boost the Comets roster without risking the asset. |

100% agree
wish we'd known ahead of time his idea of rolling 4 lines meant 1-2-3-4-1-2-3-4 etc |

Linden won't fire Benning for losing Etem, granlund or Biega. Smart hockey people know that if they can't crack he 4th line of a non-playoff team they don't hold value. One of things I like about them is they don't cave to the squaking b!tchs on 1040 |

Keep JV for the 13 8 2. Unless he reports to camp out of shape from partying, then send his ass down. Otherwise keep him. Burrows JV and Etem can be in and out.
looking at the lineup JB has done a good job adding size to our D. Biega in Utica unless training camp shows otherwise. |

Totally.
Although i might sub Gaunce for JV (as i'm less comfortable sitting the kid). Call up JV as required after giving him some minues.
No risk or worry about losing Biega as a D. Rotate Pedan/Tryamkin/Larsen with Sbisa. Injuries will happen always do.

Jv start in Utica, as does Biega. Rodin starts up here. Other then that it works.
This is however dependent on training camp of course. |

He's got to earn his spot though, he needs to show that he's better than Etem, Burrows, Gaunce, Granlund and Dorsett. If he's going to be a 4th line winger/press box candidate then keeping him up makes no sense. He needs to be the 3RW or Utica's 1RW, he's only 20, and a power forward, they take more time than others to develop. Let's let him do so slowly enough that the rest of the new developing core can start to come together first. |

I don't see Canucks sending down their only forward that lays out big hits. Why does everyone always think the worst will happen. Sven Bo and Jake will make an awesome line. Snap Crackel and Pop |

I agree but I also think that those mentioned, including Rodin, will be given every opportunity. Can't fit them all. Makes for an exciting training camp. |
