What makes me laugh is how Garth thinks he'll be ready to play top line minutes without any NHL experience. He is bound to make a ton of mistakes as a rookie and he'll have to adjust to the speed of the NHL so why would a team play him on the top line against every other teams best line? Just doesn't make any sense.

Best case scenario, he wins a cup playing on the left side of Kane and Toews.

Worst case scenario, if it doesn't work out, he goes group 3 UFA in just 4 years.

If you're a player who likes to have more control over where you play, college is obviously the way to go.

Youd think that someone with their own source would know the situation better. It's truly unbelievable that this topic has been talked to death, and yet the people invested the most it don't have a clue what is going on.

If a player is willing to give up years of wages immediately in order to get an education what can they really do about it. Are they going to bargain for a clause that makes drafted players indentured servants indefinitely?

A balanced solution for this, and the RFA problem, would be to get rid of RFA completely and make it so players are locked into an ELC for the first 5 years that they play in the NHL, then they're UFA after that. They could eliminate the loophole that allows unsigned draftees to wait a few years and become UFA's as part of the deal that would allow players to potentially become UFA's at Vesey's current age.

I love how this saga has been ongoing since what April or so and they have no clue what the rules are still after countless months and articles on the subject. that epic fail blog after vesey trade was hilarious.... Now we got posters claiming sources and they correct people who are correct and give out false info. Fits into a garf blog perfectly.

I have no problem with what the Sabres did. They have a Kessel-load of draft picks - nothing wrong with giving up a 3rd rounder on a gamble.

Not a big deal, but sounds pretty stupid to say they knew he was going to go to ufa 15th but made the trade anyways.

They clearly felt that there was a chance that they could sign him or else they don't make the deal.
